Kids and concussions

Do you kids play sports at school. Check out this crazy story about concussions sustained in childhood and the lifelong effects they have. Often times its worse than concussions sustained by adults.

In one case, game video shows a kid holding his head and swaying like a drunk. "But there was no way he was going to take himself out of this match, and his coach didn't either."

In another, a teen soccer player finished a game half-blind following a hit. Messed up.

My oldest son plays ice hockey.  Second concussions syndrome and post concussion issues have really gotten a lot of (good) research lately.  So much so that kids are going to start checking (hitting) two years later starting this year so that their brains will get two more years of development.

My 12yo is in judo & got a mild concussion at camp this year.  They take concussions very seriously & any time they hit their heads they are being checked out.  concussions in sports is huge here.  They are part of the health curriculum in school now.
