When is Everyone Taking Maternity Leave? - Page 2

I would like to work up until the end but I'm starting my leave unpaid at 37 weeks because it is also marks my son who passed aways first birthday as well as anniversary of the day he died and day we buried him  in the following week and I think I'll need that time off anyway. Because I do childcare I don't think its fair to ask to take a week off and then work another week or two and then take my leave. I think the weeks leading up to the birth might a be crazy emotional time anyway.

hi, I didn't do anything to make my reply show up a million times so I don't know how to fix it.

Well, I just just interviewed for two jobs--one today and one last week, LOL--so I have no idea yet!  The job I think I'm gonna get is a really awesome one, very mother- and breastfeeding-friendly joy.gif  I'm excited!

As for my freelance work, I'm not going to schedule any art events past Halloween--really I think even Halloween might be pushing my sanity limits, but that's my favorite holiday! orngtongue.gif

Taking off at 39 weeks - that's when my son was born and I was HUGE and so uncomfortable!  Can't imagine running around school with the kids then.  I'm also off until end of April, so I feel good about the length of time.

I just told my manager last month when we briefly talked about it that I would prefer to wait until October to talk about when to take off... I just have NO idea how I will be feeling come October, but since my job requires me to be on my feet CONSTANTLY- I don't think I will want to work up until the end. However, DP took a job two weeks ago (and left a lower paying but steady job) that was promising him GREAT money... he worked for two weeks and then they closed the project down because it wasn't as successful as promised. So now he works his four day a week extra money job, but without me working it will mean we have a VERY tight budget until I go back, and I was SO hoping to have a long leave. :( Hopefully though, he will have something else come up before then that we can rely on... :(
