Skin staph infection 6mo - first topical antibiotic didn't work, don't want to resort to oral

Last week I found out that in fighting my own yeast skin rashes, I got MRSA.  DD has had a diaper rash plus a rash under her chin since about 2mo.  I thought it was yeast, was trying natural remedies.  The rash will start to get better then get worse again, never really goes away.

Apparently they didn't check the culture for yeast (I thought they were going to!) but it did show strep (not MRSA strangely enough.  What's with all this staph??).  Was using Bactroban for 6 days, didn't work.  HCP wanted to give oral antibiotic which I really do not want to do (I am already taking one for MRSA plus Diflucan, plus trying to figure out her food issues.  She has had nothing orally except BM and a little bit of probiotic powder for a few days).

I tried TTO on her diaper rash a while back, didn't help, I used olive oil as carrier.  I think I put enough TTO in the olive oil but nto sure.  It smelled strong enough.

Anything else I should try?  HCP wants me to use both the bactroban and another topical antibiotic they prescribed at the same time.

I could try GSE/olive oil instead of the topical antibiotics, anything else?

I was going to suggest topical Goldenseal ...is that what you mean by GSE/olive oil?

if possible - i would gather the goldenseal/ echinacea  into some cheesecloth and boil some water - dip, and let cool off to just warm (which will take about 20 seconds)  ....place directly on the affected skin - air dry.   good luck!

Thanks!  GSE is grapefruit seed extract which is antimicrobal or something like that.

Ds1 had a bad MRSA infection a few years ago & because of his severe eczema he got recurrent infections after the first time. He had oral antibiotics the first time, but weve actually found success with bactroban. Because of our first experience, I didnt experiment much with him, but both DH & I got infections a couple times. One time, I put a clove of garlic in the press & pressed it directly onto the spot, then covered it with a bandaid. Ok, it killed it, but it totally burned me & I have a little square scar on my thigh & I smelled strongly like garlic for a couple days. I read afterwards to put vaseline around outside of area & obviously you don't need as much garlic as an entire clove. Other things we did: bleach baths for DS (cut down on his recurrent infections), GSE in loads of his laundry, high dose of probiotics (esp. If on antibiotics), high dose vitamin D, coconut oil as moisturizer...im sure there's more but HTH!

I did pick up the second antibiotic topical perscription, haven't used it yet.  The thing is, I tried TTO a while ago and it didn't make a difference.  Just read an article on how good it is to treat staph, but apparently it didn't touch DD's so maybe I DO need something stronger.

Hmmm, I could check on the silver spray if my co op carries it.  Thanks!
