Itchy feet!

Has anyone else had intense itching on the soles of the feet?  I understand this is not an unheard of pregnancy symptom (though it didn't happen to me last time).  Any good ideas on how to relieve it?  Scratching directly is sometimes hard because it's also ticklish.  What weird things our bodies do!

Oh yes! My feet itch all the time lately... I just scratch them or rub them on the bath mat in my bathroom, which is a little scratchy. If you find any other remedies let me know. LOL

Please tell your healthcare provider.  Itching on the soles of your feet can be a sign of a complication of pregnancy called intrahepatic cholestasis.  Lab tests can be run to help determine whether this is the issue.

Just emailed my midwife about this after looking it up on Wikipedia... my mom had two jaundiced babes (me and my sis) and it looks like there's a genetic component to ICP... also looks like delivery by 37 weeks (which is tomorrow for me) is highly suggested for fetal survival. Thank you for this warning! I'll check back to let you know what she says.

I also appreciate the new information and I've done some quick internet research.  We don't have a history of this in my family, but I was experiencing hormonal imbalance before getting pregnant, and I've even had a few hot flashes which could suggest elevated estrogen.  I have an apt soon which I will bring all this up at.  Thanks momileigh for the tip.

My midwife just emailed me back and said I should probably stay off the internet until the baby comes... Hahaha!

She's actually had two mamas with ICP and is sure I don't have it, but offered to run lab tests if I wanted... thanks for the info though!! Good to know.
