Thinking about getting out and dusting off my guitar

Is there anyone on the site who is experienced in music?

I'd love to get my guitar out and get it back in tune again.  I'm so out of practice it isn't funny.

And, do children generally prefer when you play kids songs to them (ie, the songs from Sesame Street), or do any songs do? I know a bit of Jewel and Pink  :-)  lol.  I need some inspiration on what to learn next to get me going again.

Anything!  Everything.  But for years I had to let the little ones strum and play while I formed the chords and sang.  It was finally a good excuse to get the guitar out and not be perfect, just good enough to have fun.  Now they have their own guitars to bang around on and sing along to (very...um...interesting creations!)  I love hearing them make their own music on the spot.  Dust it off, tune it up (this can lead to some impatience on their part, more when they were very little) and play!

Oh gosh, just play what you like!  I recently got back into piano, and am loving it.  I have 2 children who take piano lessons, and one who takes violin lessons.  We bought a new keyboard 'cause we just had an old piano that needed alot of work.  I am LOVING the keyboard!  I can play the harp, lol!  (on the keyboard, lol).  I want a real harp so badly.

Play and dance and sing and have fun!

Sounds fun.  I've got an old piano too which I haven't played in ages.  It sits in our bedroom quiet as a mouse.  Sad really because I had lessons in my early 20's and am quite good.  I suppose life gets in the way of our hobbies sometimes doesn't it.

what ages are you thinking?

5 year olds and older love jewel and pink. the little ones would love you playing songs they can sing along with.

just get it out and do it.
