Okay, this is probably a different kind of "challenge" than what is most often posted here, but I thought I'd ask you mammas for some advice.
Â
DD2 is 19 mos old and nurses about 3x/day; waking, sometime during the day, and bedtime. She was more like 4x/day until about a month ago (with 2x during the day). For quite a while now, I've done a lot of reading to her during nursing sessions beause she had gotten into a habit of immediately grabbing her hair when she starts to nurse and ends up pulling a lot of her hair out, and I'm trying to help keep her interested in something else so that she won't pull her hair.
Â
Well, she's not out of the hair pulling business yet, but she has developed an association between books and nursing. So now if she wants to read a book, she has to nurse. She's not able to sit still through a whole (albeit short) book without nursing and usually hops up a few pages in or grabs a different book to start reading after a few pages. Lately she'll grab a book and bring it to me saying "milk, milk". It's really too cute, but I'd like to get her to be able to enjoy a book without having to nurse. I don't mind the nursing, but it's the association I'm trying to break.

Any thoughts?
