VBAC friendly doc and/or midwives on Long Island

Hello ladies! I'm currently pregnant with #2 and due end of Feb/early March 2012. The OB who delivered my daughter cannot do VBACs at the hospital she delivers at (Southside). Aparently in the two years since I had my DD and was told I could try for a VBAC, they have effectively banned them there.

I have appointments next week with the Gaia Midwives in Islip and Stony Brook Midwives also in Islip. I was wondering if anyone has any opinions on either. Gaia delivers at Nassau University Medical Center and the Stony Brook Midwives at Stony Brook. Opinions of either hospital too?

I'm really torn because I LOVE my OB but I really want a VBAC and am willing to change providers to get that.

Thanks!

Congrats on your pregnancy!

I am currently 30 weeks pregnant with my first, and I'm using Gaia midwives. I have been going to their Malverne office (because I'm in Port Washington and it's a little closer.) But, I've met all the midwives and I love them all! I will be delivering at NUMC, it has the best statistics of all the hospitals here on Long Island. Lowest C-section rates and all that stuff.

Good luck and let us know what you decide!
