Hello,

I am a mom to two precious babies.  My first son is almost two (in two weeks) and my second son is now one.  They are 11 1/2 months apart.  I had concerns with my first son from the start.  He had a very large head and was in the 90th percentile at birth and is now at 115% percentile.  We now realize the he has sensory processing disorder and may be tested for Autism.  He has a significant speech delay and terrible eye contact with and is obsessed with trains.

But my question is about my second son.  He has always had a head circumference in the 40th-50th percentile at every single check up.  This past check up (12 months) he is in the upper 90th percentile.  He has great eye contact and interacts with other kids and seems to be developing normally.  He has been lately sticking his tongue out a lot when he talks and my first son did that also.  Not sure if this is normal.  He has also been seeking pressure on his head a lot lately.  He does have some sensory issues orally and is very very difficult to feed.  He has very bad reflux.  My dr. is very concerned about his sudden head growth.  She is going to wait a month and recheck his head circumference.  I am not concerned that is now in the 90th percentile, I am concerned in the sudden jump in the head circumference.  Has anyone had this issue, any advice?

Thanks! :)

haven't had this issue personally but would definitely be looking out for hydrocephalus. Hopefully everything is ok and it is just a big growth spurt!

My older DS has a huge head. HUGE. Big at birth and "rapid head growth" and at 4, still big. He is a normal bright kid.

DD has small head. At birth, very small and has also had periods of "rapid head growth" that have taken her to more or less "normal to big." Normal bright kid.
