Hi Everyone :)

My name is Alison. I'm mommy to my adorable 19 month old daughter. I'm a work at home mom who recently started a line of girls apparel and accessories. I'm passionate about attachment parenting. My DD and I still have a wonderful nursing relationship and we also co-sleep, much to the shock of my not so AP aware friends and extended family. I'm really interested in hearing the opinions of other parents regarding vaccines, as we selectively vaccinate. My DD has a dairy allergy and I'd also love to share recipes and tips for managing and explaining allergies to children. I've been lurking here since before my DD was born and love reading what you all have to say, so I'm really looking forward to finally chatting with you all!

Hey! Thank you for the warm welcome :)

How old is your DD? Have you explained her allergy to her yet? If so, when? I'm really curious to see if there are any good allergy books for children..haven't found any yet on my own. For the time being I just say "Oh, we can't eat that piece of cake/pizza/etc because that has milk and we're allergic, but instead we can have a vegan cupcake/etc." I know she can't really understand it yet, but before I know it she will have to know and I want to be prepared.

She is 4 now and we learned of her allergies when she was 10 months. She had a serious reaction around that time. She allergic to other things though too, not just milk. She knows. She's never known any differently. It can be a hard road to walk at first but it does become the new "normal".
