Even though the first week was rough, I'm now feeling "normal" and it doesn't seem real yet at all. I am so anxious to have my first OB appointment so it can be a little more real.
I originally wanted to wait until 12 weeks to share the news with family, but DH is agitated at waiting so long, so when we see our family all together in a couple weeks, we're going to share the news. It will be the first grandchild in my side of the family, so there will be a lot of hubub. That might make it more real too. And then hopefully nothing bad happens.
The day DH and I found out we were pregnant, we ended up going out with some friends for dinner and ended up at a bar. So yeah, me drinking water, of all things, in a nice restaurant while everyone else had cocktails, and then at a bar was plenty obvious. But DH made up some story and that was that. I'm not sure what your events are, but it's something where you can order a glass of ginger ale away from the group and appear "normal" perhaps that's a way around the issue for a bit longer. Or you could be "taking antibiotics." There must be plenty of stories, as long as you won't feel overwhelmingly guilty about telling those around you the lies. :-S
