My 5.5 week old DS has developed what appears to be an umbilical hernia. His cord dried up and fell on in the first few days and his belly button healed great as a nice cute little "innie". Last Friday I noticed he seemed to be getting a bit more of an "outie". Yesterday it protruded even more so I took a look online and it definitely looks like an umbilical hernia. It is not painful for him and it is soft and easy to push back in. Some times it's not even there, but it gets more prominent when he strains to poop or when he cries.
I'm taking him in to see the midwife this week to confirm (and if it starts to bother him at all I'll take him to the ER immediately) but I wanted to see if anyone else has dealt with this and if so, what you did, and if/when it resolved.
