How are people reacting to the news? - Page 4

As I tell more people, the responses are varied...and QUITE surprising. Most people seem surprised and maybe annoyed. They can't understand how we'd "let" this happen when we already have four and are trying to recover from the fire. They won't accept that it was a surprise but we are happy all the same and that we always wanted a big family. My college age friends seem to have pulled away, just one more child to prove how different we are or something...kind of sad, but oh well! The biggest surprise was my MIL. She's never liked me much, and hasn't been overly supportive of the fact that we had as many as we did. Amazingly, she seemed happy for us. I was so glad to see that reaction...I thought for sure she'd write us off. My mom had the opposite reaction, more in the "how could you" camp. I figure if people don't like it they don't have to be around!

People often amaze me with what they say. Congrats to all the mamas here. :)

I have told 2 close friends.  DH has told no one. We have not told our other kids. Or parents.   This is for a couple reasons.  1) We are just now coming to terms with this surprise pregnancy #4 ourselves. :)  2) There were 2 sacs with our early sono, so we are waiting until our sono on the 26th to figure out if we are announcing baby 4 or 4 AND 5.  And 3) We are a bit not wanting to deal with the responses (not that anyone will say anything, but it will be unspoken) as our youngest two have special health needs that we are struggling to get under control.  Our bandwidth right now is Zero.  We hope that changes before next baby comes.

But we are finally to the point that we are excited.  I am not sure how we will announce it.  We do have great parents and they may think "oh geez" inside, but they will likely be supportive. (I hope)

I called and let my family know this week. My younger sister was married 2 weeks ago and I wanted to wait until after her wedding to share the news. When I called her, she was like "I already knew that." I figured my mom had spilled the beans, but no, she just knew and didn't say anything. She thanked me for waiting til after the wedding.

I left a message for my twin and she called back the next day. She said, "You left me a message and then little sister called and asked if I had talked to you yet, so you must be pregnant." So I guess I am not really surprising anyone here.

My older sister tried to be polite and say congrats, but she thinks I am crazy. She gave me the "you know what causes that, right?"

My dad is the one who surprised me. He was SO excited. He was having a bad day, and was just really glad for some good news and really glad for us. That felt really good.

We haven't told the general public yet, but DH did call MIL, so I am sure everyone will know soon.
