I got into one of those "baby organizing" modes last week and pulled out all of DS's newborn and smaller clothes so that I could take stock of what we had and organize them by size. DS was a spring/summer baby, so a lot of his stuff will be a season off for this baby (plus we aren't finding out the sex so won't know how much of his clothes we'll actually be able to use - but I have no problem dressing a girl in boyish clothes!). Also, about 75% of his wardrobe was loaned to us by a friend, and I've already packed up those clothes and returned them to her . . . . not sure if she still has them or not.

Haven't tackled the cloth diapers yet, but I know I need to . . . . I just need to pump myself up in case I need to start stalking FSOT on diaperswappers again . . . .

I found them!   I was kind of going crazy.  We finally found them in the least obvious but only place left.  So glad I didn't wait until Jan to try and find them!  So, we have 36 green edge prefolds and 6 small covers (a few bummis and other bummi like covers). 

In case anyone was wondering about sizes:  the small covers seem like they are going to be fine for size (though I'm still not sure abt the cord...)  the prefolds are WAY too big.  I think I'm going to buy a few dozen newborn prefolds and maybe a few covers.  So glad we don't have to replace 1/2 of our total stash though!

I just had a big Craigslist score-got my newborn stash!

2 dozen GMD orange edge, 2 dozen GMD yellow edge, 6 newborn covers (various), 6 infant covers (Bummis SWW), 4 hemp babies doublers.  All are in excellent condition, used on 1 baby.  Woo Hoo!

This will by our first time CDing a newborn as well. Last time we went sposies for the first few days, then went with a diaper service until DS started out-peeing their diapers. Then we invested in a stash of our own.

Anyway, since we always intended to have a second child I went a bit crazy and bought Kissaluv Size 0s when they came on Kijiji (similar to Craigslist) quite awhile ago. I think we've got about 20 of those, then I also picked up a couple XS BG AIOs a couple of months ago for nights, along with about 5 small Motherease small covers.

I learned to knit last year, so I'm well into my first pair of longies, and have yarn for a second pair. I also have a whole bunch of sweaters to turn into recycled longies/soakers if I can find dimension/newborn sizing info anywhere! Everything I've found recommends measuring my baby. NOT helpful when I'd like to get some done before baby arrives (seriously, who has time to sew/knit with a newborn???!!!). Can anyone help me out with that?

Like others though, the thing I'm really wondering about is the cord stump vs. diaper cover!! The only covers that seem to have a snap-down are Pro-wraps and no one local to me carries them. I did pick up one Bummis today which is lower in front, but tbh Bummis are far from my favorite, I like ones with the slick inside that are more wipe-able.

With my last baby I just snappi'd a prefold on him, he didn't pee enough to need a cover. Thankfully we have tons of prefolds and it helped keep track of how many wets and dirties we had. When his stump fell off the cover went on.

we used the sposies the hospital gave us till the cord fell off.  I can't remember if we used special nb dipes?  My friend gave us LOTS of CDs.  She is so nice :D

I started making cloth diapers when my now 14 month old was about 4 months old. I use Ultrex and cotton for the cover and a sherpa-type soaker that's just a rectangle inside that. It's a really simple design that has worked great for me so far (not into snaps, stuffing, or folding personally). I started cding with gDiapers so I used their med/lg soakers for my template. The mommas who have bought diapers from me for their newborns have said that they don't quite fit there at the beginning even though I'd hoped they'd be a one size fits all. So I might make a few itty bitty ones for that first month or so, and I'll probably supplement with sposies until the peanut fits my regular size dipes so I don't have to make a full set of newborn ones. I also like to EC, which worked great for baby #3 (my first attempt). We did part time with her because I was in school and got preggo with #4 when she was only 9 months old. She was out of diapers at 20 months, which I thought was great considering how inconsistent I was. But #4, while off to an amazing start (pooped in the potty the night he was born!), decided it wasn't for him. Though I'm wondering now if he's ready to try again. He's recently started taking off his diapers and I think he might be trying to tell me that he wants to use the potty. He seems to be aware of when he's peeing all of a sudden. But I digress. I love cloth diapering and I'm excited to see how my design works on a newborn. Hopefully this baby will be amiable about EC too and maybe we won't even have to use diapers for long!

I just got my first cloth diapers in the mail!! I got a great deal on the Tiny Tush One Size Elite pocket diapers on zulily.com! I'm SO excited! They're so stinking cute! They came with 2 sized micro terry stuffers.

I'm going to do pre-folds for the newborn stage since I've heard that most babies don't fit into the one size diapers quite yet.

DH loves all the cloth diaper company names: Tiny Tush, Bum Genius, Fuzzibunz - he thinks they have such freaking cute names!

I was really excited to see so many cloth diapers on Amazon to put on my baby registry! I would like to try some one size dipes like Rumparoos, Bumgenius and Swaddlebees this time around. I have a few dozen prefolds and some thirsties covers. I bought a G diaper cover (target) but not sure I understand how it works, with the snap in plastic piece? And I consider myself a pretty experienced cloth diaperer… oh well, I spose I can always put it up on ebay :)

We went ahead and bought some one size diapers form ebay, we plan to use cloth once the babies fit into them and probably just at home. We got a great deal 20 diapers for 72$ so far they seem great lets see how they hold up.

Last week I ordered 3 dozen newborn prefolds from GMD.  I also bought two thirsties covers and have several cute newborn or small size covers on my amazon list. 

I've been feeling a little silly about the fact that I"m washing these dipes (to get them to shrink up and be nice and soft) already and then I came on here and see you all are getting your diapers ready too!  It's pretty fun to pull a load of clean diapers out of the dryer again though-- and they are so cute and tiny!

i am a huge fan of the felted sweater soaker/shorties.. here's the one i usually use, and this one too here has newborn measurements.. it also recommends using one you have to get the idea.. i also like that first one b/c i am too lazy to do elastic; i just braid (i don't even icord it) wool and sew to make a drawstring...

I've not done this cloth diapering thing before but i'm stocking up and ready to figure it out!  We just got one of our big orders in the mail- so much fun!

My daughter is just as excited about opening the package and diapers as I am- in fact she's begging me to wash them already! How does she know!  She's a natural I guess and will be very helpful! :)

These are mostly Alva Pocket diapers,   a few Kawaii pockets- 3 of which are newborn ones.  Then I have a wetbag and bamboo and microfiber inserts.   I need to read all your posts and see what you all are using because i'm still trying to figure this out!

Wow Nourish what a cute haul!

So far I've stocked up on the kissaluvs. I don't know how well they'll work, but darn they are so adorable. I'm not sure about the covers for these though. I've read that people like the thirsties covers but some pp have pointed out the need to have one that would snap down for the cord stump.....

I've also got some bum genius pockets and have been sewing inserts for them. I think I'm going to need some AIO for easy use when we got out.

I ended up getting a lot of prefolds and flats from a lady on Craigslist for cheap. Then I needed covers. I talked to my husband about this and he really liked the idea of the hybrid systems like Flip or Grovia vs stuffing pockets or expensive AIO. I went to my local cloth diaper store (Enkore Kids in Boonsboro, MD) and they helped me out a lot. We decided on Grovias and inserts, Flip covers to use with my prefolds, Happy Heiny pockets for nighttime and naps, and we are placing a Best Bottoms order soon. Baby #1 isn't due until February but I love stocking up early.

I have cloth diapered all of my kids and this will be my 6th baby  I always have more than a few days worth of diapers and I have extra covers ALWAYS. I buy my prefolds from little-lions.com they are cheapest for good quality prefolds. I dont buy super expensive dipes usually either but have some of everything and every brand at one point I had 3 kids in dipes all different ages and sizes LOL. Clothdiapers can always be sold when you are finished so I dont worry about it too much.

They're selling their business. Which might by why I can not find an option for prefolds. Do they have regular/ non-dyed ones? or just colors?

Nourish- We love Kawaii's in this house! My special needs 3.5 year old is still in cloth, and Kawaii's fit him beautifully. 

For new babe I have completed my cloth stash. We have 36 newborn sized (orange edge GMDs and a dozen of the discontinued green edge) prefolds. I also have 3 dozen yellow edge GMD's and another 2 dozen yellow GMD's but they are "seconds" quality, meaning GMD sold them as "seconds" brand new because they didn't shrink up like typical yellows. So they fit more like the next size up, which I think are red edge? I got them for super cheap. All were purchased used off of diaper swappers FSOT so we saved a ton.

We also have 10 Kawaii, the newborn ones that fit 6-18 lbs. 5 Kawaii OS Minky. About 15 PUL covers sizes newborn-medium. I think 7 other random OS pockets (blueberries and stuff) leftover from DS2 that don't fit him anymore.

Then we're hoping that DS2 will be PL'ed and DS3 will inherit his 60 or so Kawaii's that are currently in rotation! 

I have a problem with being over prepared  I will take some fluffy pics in a bit.
