Plugged Duct Help, Please

Thread Starter

I weaned by DD 2 weeks ago.  I now have a large plugged duct in my left breast.  It doesn't hurt but I can feel it and it has been there for a few days.  The problem is, the location is such that it is under the plastic flange of my breast pump so I can massage it while pumping.  I also have never really been able to hand express.  I would prefer not to nurse my DD so as not to confuse her.

My question is, can I just leave it since it doesn't hurt?  Will it resolve on it's own?  If not, what can I do to get rid of it?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I had a couple clogged ducts while nursing my youngest.   She wasn't weaned, but at that point she was night weaned and sleeping thru the night.   I would sleep with a heating pad under the sore part and massage.   The heat seemed to help it unclog.
