My mom is a school nurse, so of course she is constantly pressing us to get our kids vaccinated. Now she is focusing on us. We were both vaccinated as kids, but we are not vaccinating our kids. My mom thinks we should get the adult booster immunizations to protect our kids. I need some good articles about why that is a bad idea to send to her to read for herself. Thanks in advance!

Just wondering why you feel the need to provide your mom with anything? Personally Id tell my mother that I was an adult and can make my own health care choices and to butt out but thats just me!

The fact that the vaccine does not prevent transmission is no secret. Do a thread search and you will find loads of stuff.

Maybe let her know that the vaccine's effectiveness has waned considerably over the years because pertussis is mutating (thanks to the vaccine)

and that the vaccine may prevent a serious case, but will not prevent transmission.

a forum search about not preventing transmission will turn up alot of stuff too. Good luck. There is nothing worse than being harrassed about your choices - especially from a family member. At least with a stanger you can walk away - not engage - whatever. No so with family I guess!

Thanks so much for all the links. In the past I have tried to tell her why we have decided not to vax, but I am trying a new approach. When she sends an email promoting and encouraging a vaccine, I will just send one with info about why not to. That way we don't have to get into a discussion about it, yet we are exchanging information. Who knows, maybe she will read the info I send and start to understand why parents don't vax. She is a school nurse, so she likes to see immunization charts that are full and up-to-date thinking that that is best for kids' health. She still doesn't understand that in Montana we can fill out an exemption form and don't have to vax. I have told her that, but she still insists that we are going to have to do it at some point. She isn't much of a listener at times.
Even the vaccine manufacturer's own advertisement says the vaccine does not prevent transmission, lol.
Â
"It is unknown whether immunizing adolescents and adults against pertussis will reduce the risk of transmission to infants."

Why not sit down with the vaccine insert and ask your mom how the medical issues listed in the adverse effects list can be treated?
Â
Those are just the acknowledged reactions. No one can say wether or not you will suffer one of those reactions.IMO, it is not worth the risk because many have no treatment options.
