ASCUS on Pap test!

So, I just had a pap smear only 3 months post partum because it had been a year and a half since my last pap, so they did it early. Fine by me, I've never had an abnormal test. Well, they called me today to let me know that my results came back ASCUS and I should be scheduled to have a colposcopy(sp?). I thought okay, I guess I should make sure it's not cancer, but after researching what exactly ASCUS means, I feel like rushing into an invasive procedure can probably wait. Anyone else had this result and weren't offered to do a repeat pap in a few months before resorting to the colp/biopsy? Apparently ASCUS can mean lots of things and rushing in an scraping and doing a biopsy seems pretty sill at this point. Plus I've always heard that if you've just had a baby or are pregnant your cells are changing so much, that it could be just from that alone. I also started taking Micronor BC pill 2 months ago. Could that contribute to the abnormal results?

i'm really surprised they want to do a colposcopy but maybe it depends on what the report said. did you see the report at all?

I did see the report. Didn't look like there was anything suspicious. I called the midwife back who recommended the colposcopy and asked her why she suggested it when I've read every where the usual protocal is to wait for a few months and retest. Also, my best friend had a pap recently(we use the same midwifery care)with the exact same result and the other midwife in practice told her to wait 6 months and retest. I guess it was just her opinion. She did say she hasn't been in the practice that long and is more cautious than the other midwives I guess. So, I think I'm just gonna wait. I don't even know this midwife that well. I know the other two and trust them. They both delivered each of my babies.

My recent pap was ASCUS- negative HPV and I was just told to get one next year.
