So, my oldest son Owen (2 years, 4 months) has had eczema, allergies, minor asthma (brought on by the allergies), and loose stools for at least a year now. Â His Dr put him on zyrtec, which helped with most of those problems really well, until I realized it was making him absolutely nuts! (Talk about parent guilt over giving it to him for so long.) Â Well, about a month ago, he started getting an itchy eczema rash in his hair and it quickly spread down his back. Â I'm a big raw milk fan, and I've always let him drink as much as he wanted. Â I've been very reluctant to try the elimination diet. Â But, I was desperate, so I finally cut out milk. Â And, lo and behold, the rash went away, his stools are fantastic, and his behavior is much better (you know, for a 2 year old). Â I haven't cut out baked goods or the little bit of cheese in his scrambled eggs, but all straight up milk. Â Yesterday, he had yogurt and the rash immediately came back.
So, here's my question. Â What are my options? I hate for him to not be able to drink milk forever. Â I really don't want to take him to an allergist. Â I don't trust his pediatrician to give us good nutritional info. Â I've read some stuff online about reversing allergies. Â Is that possible???? Have you guys had experience with this????Â
I'm a WAPFer, but I know NO ONE else who does anything like this, and all my friends think I'm nuts. Â
