How much does your LO eat?

I am assuming that 16 mo old DS is going through a growth spurt. But, he's had this crazy high appetite for about a month - do growth spurts last that long?

He literally wants food ALL THE TIME! He wakes at 4:30 or 5:00 and signs food (he mostly communicates by signing). I feed him every time he asks for it, and have no problem doing it -- he's skinny;) Recently, though, I'm starting to wonder if there's something going on. Here's a typical eating pattern for him (we eat a TF/WAPF diet): DH gives him "easy snacks" in the am before work while I'm in bed, so maybe plantain chips, then I'll do sprouted toast w/peanut butter and butter on it, then hard boiled egg or two, throughout the day he'll have steamed broccoli or carrots, peas, lots of homeade, unsweeted yogurt (he drinks it and loves it), a banana, strawberries, apple, or other fruit (usually two - four fruits/day), cheese slices, homeade hummus, beans, popcorn w/butter and coconut oil, pepitas, lunch and dinner is usually something like chicken liver, quinoa, beef, and/or beans (his favorite!). He also nurses throughout the day and night and drinks water, mineral water, herbal (chamomile or shares my raspberry/nettle) tea. On weekends we often have a "family plate" breakfeast of eggs, bacon, and potatoes and he'll eat at least as much as DH or I do. I have a hard time sitting down after giving him food b/c he'll already be asking for more! I don't think it's boredom b/c he'll sign to eat in the car or when we're out on playdates or anything. I have to have lots of snacks packed any time we go anywhere.

I wouldn't worry if this was only going on a few days or a week, but, like I said, it's been weeks (he has gotten taller). He's pooing around 3 times a day now and fills his little toilet. It's not solid at all, but I've attributed that to teething. Sometimes I'll see stuff he just ate in it. I'm wondering if he's not absorbing nutrients? Any thoughts or experiences? He is VERY active, so needs a lot of calories. I would ask a doc/ND, but I've been on the search and have yet to find one that actually listens and would do anything.

My DS has gone through spurts of eating that last that long. I fed him while he was hungry, making sure that it was as much healthy, nutritional food as I could. He has always cycles back down to eating very little for 2 weeks or more. Keep feeding like you are, it sounds like you are doing fine :)
