Is it normal for DCP to only change diaper twice on a 6mo for a full day? - Page 2

I remember when my ds was a babe I found that if someone else watched him, they would change his diaper more frequently if he was in a disposable than a cloth diaper. Completely counter-intuitive but that is what happened. I think some people are unfamiliar and uncomfortable with cloth diapering and so just ignore/avoid the whole thing as much as possible.

Yeah, that is not normal. I would guess it is an unfamiliarity with cloth thing. I would just ask about changing every 2 hours or so, 2 hours is the standard at my daycare as well (and of course any time they poop outside of that). I actually think 2 hours is more frequent than needed a lot of times, but I think it's good to have the standard be a little more often than necessary so that when delays happen as they will of course it works out.

That's funny; I had the opposite experience.  Those who used disposables changed diapers much less often than the ones who used cloth.  Cloth for me was so much easier to check if wet.

She doesn't seem neglectful in other ways - DS was there for a few years.  The only thing odd then was that if he had a poopy diaper or underwear, the clothing would come home WITH the poop in it.  Really odd.  It's like she just doesn't quite get it about anything other than disposables.  She is really great with the kids otherwise.  She does have another adult helper on the days I've had DD there.  I don't think she has any other infants DD's age.  Maybe 1 or two older.

When my son was in daycare, they had a sheet that they'd fill out whenever the child ate, slept, peed, or pooped. It was very helpful to see how much and when he slept and ate, plus I could see how many times he peed and pooped to make sure things were going smoothly. He was in an all infant room at a center and they had a rough schedule for the older infants which I'm sure helped them remember to check diapers often (breakfast, clean-up, check diapers, play, bottle, check diaper, play, lunch, clean-up, check diaper, nap, etc.) I believe they typically checked diapers at least every 2 hours. Even when my son napped the entire afternoon away, he'd have a soiled diaper in the am, midday, and before he went home. This was with him often only being there from 9am to 3 or 4pm. I'm not sure if your daycare provider would consider implementing a daily sheet like we had, but it definitely looks like something needs to change.

i work in a daycare, and we change every 2 hours. the last place i worked changed every hour under 12 months, every 2 over. as far as poopy clothes go, i know we are not allowed to rinse them out, we have to send them home dirty.

I would say a 6 month old's diaper should be changed at least four times.  Maybe it depends on how much the baby naps...but, twice seems like not nearly often enough.
