It looks like most of the kids who are attending montessori programs are older, but I was wondering if anyone had any experience with infants in montessori programs. DH and I are looking into a program for our soon-to-be-earthside one and feel pretty comfortable with it, as comfortable as I'm going to feel leaving her so young. Has it differed from infant care at non-montessori based programs? How so?Â

Montessori infant daycare

I hope you get some replies to this! My DS just turned one & we recently moved to an area where we can afford it (regular "inexpensive" daycare in our old area was over 1000 a month, Montessori was way more). We are exited about the possibility but unsure at this point. It's still more than regular daycare (that he loves) & I'm not sure if they get anything out of it at this age?

My DS did not end up going to a Montessori daycare/school because of the very long wait list but when we were touring daycares, we did see the infant/toddler rooms there. One difference I noticed compared to other daycares was that they had no cribs, they had a separate little alcove room where there were little low beds on the floor and the babies slept there (they took babies starting at 3 months and up). The teachers said that they adjusted quickly even if they slept in cribs at home. Also, they encouraged older babies to start using little versions of real glasses and plates once they could sit up and eat solids (instead of plastic plates or sippy cups). They did not have the learning stations until the toddler room and up.
