Isn't there something to give to a child before a vaccination to lessen affects??

I just can't remember exactly but I thought I saw an add in one of the last few Mothering Magazines for a product that helps if you choose to vaccinate.  Dah!  I can't remember what it was!  A family member is adopting a baby but 'til it's finalized he is a ward of the state and they MUST vaccinate him so....  just trying to give them helpful advice.  What is that stuff called?

Someone had mentioned giving Tylonol with it but I told them maybe try ice instead (not "fun" but for sure safer for an infant).

Any other thoughts I can pass to these loving new parents?  :)

Tylenol should absolutely NOT be given anytime near vaccination, as it lowers the glutathione levels in the body. Glutathione is essential for detoxing after vaccination.

I would give very good quality probiotics such as VSL#3 and also sodium ascorbate (vitamin C). Probiotics is a long term thing, not just a few days before or a few days after.

I would give 2 days of high doses of vitamin A near the MMR vaccine. There are websites that show the doses. If I recall correctly, the standard recommendation is 200,000 IU per day for 2 days. That amount would be difficult to give to an baby, so I would choose micellized vitamin A drops. I think most brands contain about 5,000 IU per drop.

Which effects are you wanting to lessen, OP?

I am conventional :) so I gave equivalent of Tylenol before the jabs (no regrets).  But apparently you aren't supposed to because it can mask symptoms you need to be aware of (this is conventional pro-vac advice, btw).  Only supposed to give analgesics after a problem, like high fever or crankiness, presents itself (to alleviate those discomforts).

hth.

Are you talking about lessening the effects on the child's immune system?  If so, maybe this will help:

Actually, that is no longer conventional advice, because Tylenol before vaccines decreases the vaccines' effectiveness.

Ah, I meant I was conventional in that I was happy to give Tylenol at all.

I did say I vaguely knew you weren't supposed to give it before any problems develop, though I was fuzzy why. So thanks for the link :).  I definitely would have followed the now-official advice more clearly if I had understood the 2009 thinking better.
