Hurricane and a dog.

So, I know we're going to be hit by at least a tropical storm. Currently they are calling for at least 60 mph winds. We have a 120 lb dog. He's going to have to go to the bathroom during the storm. He will not go in the house. He has been known to hold it for 48 hours when we had someone take care of him that he didn't like, and they couldnt' get him outside. He would not go in the house.

I don't want him to do that. It must be painful and can't possibly be healthy. He's also a bit anxious about storms. So, what are somethings that I can do to keep him safe if he needs to go out?

do you have a more sheltered area of your yard front or back you can take him too? or maybe a coat you can put on him? those are heavy winds, but maybe you can time it to stay out with him until it gets bad and take him out the minute it starts to calm down?

I wonder if he would go under the deck? It's more sheltered, but I'm not sure he will. He's a little odd about stuff like that. But maybe I can get him to go on the side of the house away from the wind. He doesn't need a coat though. He's a walking rug! lol.gif

lol.gif I hadn't even thought of that! You're right, during a storm, he tried to become a 120 lb lap dog! I wonder what dh would say if I tried to fit the dog into his rain coat? mischievous.gif
