Need help getting DD to sleep without mom

Hi! I'm new to the forums, this is my first post! DD (our first) is 7.5 months, and until now I have been the one to care for her most of the time. I will be going back to work soon - if I get the job I am hoping for I will primarily work from home but will need to be away occasionally in the evenings at bedtime. DH and my MIL need to be able to put the baby down for bed and naps as they, or another sitter, will be caring for her. I usually nurse her to sleep or she naps in the Ergo carrier while I take a walk. She always nurses to sleep for bedtime. We are living with my MIL right now and neither DH or I are working so it's a good time to try something new. My MIL did let her CIO twice now while I was out because she didn't know what else to do. She is convinced that if we do it consistently then DD will be able to go to sleep more easily without much fuss. Apparently she did not cry for long but I don't want to get into doing this and have her start crying for longer periods of time, I want her to know that whomever is caring for her will be there.

Having them wear her for long periods of time may be tough as she's getting heavy. Has anyone else made this transition at this age and what helped? Thank you for your suggestions and advice!

Thanks!

A new mama....

Hi, don't know if you are still checking but I would try to see if she would fall asleep in the ergo with anyone walking her at night.  We do this for my son and it works well.  He is just now getting to the place that he doesn't need to be walked to sleep at 19 months and I think that was just developmental for him.  He definitely would have needed help at 7.5 months.  Maybe they can give her a bottle of your breast milk and then walk her to sleep in the ergo then put her down in her bed?
