A good probiotic supplement for toddlers?

Anyone have any suggestions of good probiotic supplements for kids (DS is 3 1/2), besides the gummy-type kind?

Lifeway kefir might be a good option.They have a varietyof products,flavors,and some soy alternatives for those allergic to dairy.

I do give him the Lifeay Kefir yogurt, but do they actually sell supplements too? I checked out their site and didn't see that they sold them.

Also, when giving probiotics, is that something you need to consult the doctor for? I didn't think you need to but I was just on Mercola's site and he said to check with your doctor or ped first

I think the *check with your doctor* is something that helps them avoid any legal issues with things they write.Unless there is an allergy to milk I can not imagine the kefir causing a problem.

No,they do not seem to sell anything in pill or powder form,but I have read the *activity* of such probiotics is far lower than that of the live cultured milk and soy products.

You are lucky your child takes the lifeway.My son will only drink it as a medicine in one of those medicine measuring cups,lol.

I honestly don't think it's very good either.  I'm shocked my son will drink it!

What about Lifeway's ProBugs line? It comes in four flavors and contains 10 live probiotic cultures so there's no need for a supplement.

Our favorite is Primal Defense Kids by Garden of Life, because it has S. Boulardii in it.
