fingersx.gif  Fingers are crossed for you ladies that have been having some contraction-action going on!!!  I hope it progresses into full-blown labor for all of you!

As for me - nothing.  No contractions, not even BH lately.  But, on a positive note, I have noticed more pressure in my pelvic region today, which I'm hoping is because the baby's head has found it's way back down there.  We'll know for sure tomorrow!!

Oh, and the giant zucchini picture is fantastic!  Now I'm craving zucchini!

So the bloody show is a good sign of impending labor! But, it's also possible that it could be spotting from the internal exam your mw did.  But maybe that combined with the pre-labor your were having the other night is a sign that things are getting started! Good luck! :)

Wow, so exciting reading about all of you who are further along and really getting ready to start labor!

LovingBaby - you sound just like me about 2 days before I gave birth to my second. I had a bit of bloody show and practice labor on Wednesday and she came Friday night. Sounds like you are getting so close!

And likewise to Dlynn - sounds like the real thing! Your body is really gearing up. Must be exciting to be at that stage. I have seen some of those birth videos before but not all! Thanks for sharing the link. The babies all look so BIG to me! My youngest is 3.5 so I have clearly forgotten what a newborn is really like!!

I lost about 2 tbs of mucous plug this morning, and lots more since. I've been having regular contractions (some I have to breath through) for a few hours... still not sure if it's real. I'll track some more then call my midwife!! Whooo hoo hope this is it!

Oh it's hard not to get excited for you mamas who are getting started! I'm sending happy labor vibes!

Keep us updated!

Love the zucchini! lol.gif I got some from my grandparents' farm, but ended up giving it all away. I hope they still have some because I want zucchini bread now!

I'm glad the chiro is helping you, Gracecody. I don't know how I could manage without mine. I'm hoping to make one more trip to mine before my baby comes, but I feel pretty good, so I think I can do without.

Why do you all keep talking about Panera?! You are giving me a serious craving! I haven't been there in so long. When I actually manage to get my hair cut, there is a Panera right next door, so I stop and bring us home bagels and cream cheese. I just looked at their menu, and they have a new lemon chicken orzo soup that sounds absolutely delicious!

I'm so excited to hear about everyone getting close! This weekend would be the perfect time for mine to make her appearance, but just because it's perfect for me doesn't mean it will be perfect for her. Still have my fingers crossed, though.

I had a consultation with a doctor yesterday. She's a family doctor that I'll be using as a pediatrician for both kids. She is a former midwife and makes house calls. thumb.gif The doctor was asking about my iron, but I just got my blood work done on Friday and should have the results tomorrow. She checked me out a little bit and said I don't have anything to worry about. She said I'm definitely not anemic, and whatever I'm doing is working and to keep it up. biggrinbounce.gif I'm still anxious to get the lab results. After the anemia issues I had the first time, I'll feel better after seeing it on paper.

It is really exciting to see so many mama's gearing up for labor!

I am excited to not be pregnant. I am certainly feeling ungainly and have to admit I am tired of people telling me I look small. I want to look ready! Not to mention the 40ish lbs gained. I know I am not that small. :)

I did have a complete stranger rub my belly, give me her opinion on two different names and tell me the 'recipe for girls' (this is our 3rd boy). I eventually started to walk away and told her that we really love our boys and wouldn't specifically try for one or the other. I hate being rude and felt kinda guilty. :)

I finally made it to the store to finish up my birth kit. Pads, diapers, raspberry leaf tea, a new baby outfit, diapers etc. I ordered new nursing bras a couple of weeks ago and just ordered nursing pads from amazon. I soak through them so fast at first and can't keep up with laundry so I use disposable at the beginning. I also ordered an undercover mama nursing 'tank' to try this time too.

This weekend I hope to get some freezer cooking done and I have my home visit on Monday! I have been trying so hard to have some positive thoughts toward labor but truly I am dreading it. I know that I need to get my mental state in order. I fear that if I don't I will be pregnant longer and end up with an even bigger posterior baby...

I borrowed a prenatal yoga DVD from my midwife last time and really enjoyed it, maybe that would help with the relaxation/concentration part of it.

What do you ladies do to help with the mental side of impending labor??

re the mental side of impending labor: i completely repress it. dysfunctional, probably...or maybe i could call it "living in the moment"... lol.gif

Wow, I just had a really good round (2 hours or so) of practice labor. Some of the squeezes felt so strong and opening that I got a little freaked out that it could be the real thing. They were also fairly regular for a long time, 5 minutes apart. I was a little dehydrated and had to walk 15 minutes each way to and from my car this afternoon in the 95 degree heat, so that is what triggered it. My midwife is still out of town so I called her backup who suggested some food and water and then a bit of wine with a warm bath. The wine and bath did the trick and I have only had a few since then. But in the midst of all this, I became acutely aware of the things that are undone and hanging, hanging, hanging over my head. I also want to deliver with my midwife and she won't be back to work for a few more days. Anyway, I couldn't be more surprised as I'm only in week 36 and didn't see this coming at all. Now I have some motivation to get a few things resolved/done as I've been given a reprieve! Tomorrow ought to be a productive day. :)

I've had tons of nice strong squeezes too.  2 hours yesterday morning and 2 hours the morning before.  Off and on throughout the day as well, but not to the point of timing them.  They are some pretty good ones!  But I can still tell it's not active labor.  They are lacking the burning across my pubic bone area.  They are really good strong squeezes though and I can feel them pushing the baby down and my back aching.  I have to stop and catch my breath and breathe through them on occasion.

This is a great question!  I think we each have our own way.  I beg people to pray for me...which helps tons! I also have scripture cards with verses and encouraging words that I read when I need reminded that I can do this.  Remind myself that I've done this twice before...I can do this again.  It's hard, but we'll get through it.  I'm getting to the point of being so uncomfortable that I would willingly choose to endure labor rather than to remain pregnant any longer.  LOL  So, I think that's good motivation too to mentally get in the zone of "I can do this!"

omg, today I was that lady-- the pitiful 9 months pregnant lady in the broken down car in the middle of the road on the way to work on her birthday. It could only have been worse if I was actually IN labor in my broken car in the middle of the road on my birthday:) AWFUL!  I maintained pretty well, didn't cry or anything, even though I almost broke down a few times in the 5 voice mails I left my husband who WASN'T ANSWERING HIS PHONE.  I was getting more upset about that than anything, because what if I was in labor and for over 2 hours (and really probably 20 phone calls from me) he just didn't answer? He didn't hear his phone b/c it was on vibrate apparently. He felt absolutely terrible.  Anyway, everything is fine, shouldn't be too expensive to fix, SIL let me borrow her car until it's fixed (hopefully tomorrow) and the whole situation turned out as well as it could have really. Nut definitely not my best birthday ever!

And still no baby, although I lost a big glob of mucus yesterday and I'm having contractions currently... Not sure if they're BH or mild regular contractions. They feel somewhere in between.  How uncomfortable do they have to be before you start timing them?

Well, I would certainly have been um.....not very nice....to hubby if he wouldn't have been answering the phone this late in the game.  Wow!  That would make me want to knock him upside the head and say something like....'You idiot!  I could have been in labor!"  rant.gif

Glad you can get it fixed soon and everything is ok.  Happy Birthday, btw!  Mine was just on Sunday!  birthday.gif

I start timing contractions when 1) they obviously feel different than BH or 2) I'm noticing that they seem to be coming fairly closely....even though they seem to be (and usually are) BH.

Haha, yeah, I was not so nice in my voicemails, after the first one. :)  I wasn't calling him bad names or anything, but I was definitely making him feel bad because I was getting a bit hysterical on the edge of weepiness saying things like "i can't believe I'm this pregnant and could go any minute and you're not answering your phone!" and  "I need your help, and I can't get in touch with you. This is ridiculous and you're not helping!"  He's a total softy (and I mean that in the nicest way) and saying that stuff is really probably worse than if I was calling him a jerk or something. :) He felt so bad, and even though that's really how I was feeling, I felt bad for making him feel bad, because he wasn't ignoring me on purpose.  He was just home, making dinner and cleaning the house and stuff and didn't realize he didn't have his ringer on.  He will remember to make sure from now on though. :)

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Happy belated birthday to you :)

HappyMonkey - I hope this is it for you and you get to snuggle your lil one soon!!

Bignerpie - that sounds like a really great dr to have around!  And does house calls?  That is definitely a rare quality!!

I like to take YoungSoul's approach and try very hard not to think about the actual labor, makes me a little nervous, but yet I can't wait to meet my baby!!

GraceCody - I like calling it practice labour better than false labour.. sounds so much better!  And i am totally jealous of your wine and bath, sounds super relaxing.

EarthyLady -  I have been having the 'squeezes' throughout the day as well.  At this point I am confused as to what are BH and what is practice labor, but I am sure once real labor starts I will know!

OllieMama - What a horrible birthday for you!  Glad it isn't too expensive of a fix tho, cars can be soooo expensive right when you cant' afford it!   I was timing my 'practice labor' the other night and they were 5 minutes apart, but I think from now on I am only going to start timing them when they are getting more intense and closer together.  Because the other night they stayed at approximately the same intensity level.

Gotta go, kids need me!!

I'm getting those start in the back-work their way to the front/work their way up/menstrual type cramps. (Belly tightens, it's painful, but doesn't last long). I've had several, and I keep having to pee so often! This is my 4th baby and I honestly have no clue what braxton hicks feel like... could that be when I'm experiencing?

Oh man, I've been contracting alllll freakin night.  I was able to sleep for a while though, which is good.  It feels like... almost constant pms type cramps that get worse and then better but don't really go away entirely, so I've had trouble doing any sort of timing because it's hard to tell when they start and end.  This part is all new to me.  I know I've mentioned before at least in other threads that with my ds, my water broke and I didn't start having any kind of real contractions before they pushed me into pitocin about 9 or 10 hours later.  I also never really had prodromal labor. So I don't really know what natural labor feels like, or how intense the contractions are "supposed" to be.  My only experience is like, painless BH contractions, and super intense pitocin contractions. Ugh. At least I've got a midwife appointment this morning.  Hopefully she'll be able to give me a better idea of what I'm dealing with. :)  I'd kind of like to hold off on birthing until I get the car back today, as the new baby's carseat is safely installed in that car, in the shop, which is of no use to me. :)  I'm sure it'll all work out though.

Sounds like there is a lot going on towards labor for a lot of us.joy.gif I'm starting the natural herb induction today and hoping I can turn my intense bh contractions into the real thing, at least by tomorrow when dh gets here. Going to start it at 7am. thumb.gif

Good luck!  Things have calmed down around here, and I certainly hope that doesn't repeat very many times without being the real deal. I'm still having some action, but not as steady as before. Baby seems to be pushing on my cervix and fidgeting a bunch though. yowch!

OllieMama & Earthylady - Happy belated birthday to both of you!!  birthday.gif

OllieMama - hug2.gif  Hugs for the crappy birthday.  But on a positive note, I bet DH has learned his lesson and keeps his phone on high volume from now on!

I love reading about everyone's contractions and pre-labor stories... kind of giving me an idea of what to expect.  I had a dream that I woke up to spotting and a mucus plug.  But when I woke up, there was nothing.  But at 36w2d, I guess I shouldn't expect anything!

Cathy - Good luck with the herbal stuff, I hope the timing works our perfectly for you!

Earthylady - Would you mind sharing some of the scriptures you use to mentally prepare yourself?

I've got a doctor's appointment today to check the baby's position.  And, I'm getting my maternity pictures done today - yay!!
