Early labor is the 1-4 cm's stage and can last anywhere from a few hours to weeks.  You should get some rest.  Take some Calcium/Magnesium, or drink a glass of wine and take a bath (actually, I had one mw recommend a shot of brandy....so whatever floats your boat) and get some sleep.  I wouldn't try getting labor going when you're already exhausted.  hug2.gif

Hey everyone! Sounds like a lot of interesting stuff is happening for a lot of you! I'm starting to feel like this baby is never going to come out greensad.gif I have been so congested this whole week, fighting a sore throat. I slept 12 hours last night and napped through out the day...seriously have never been so tired! I've also been kind of nauseas today, no vomiting or anything, no appetite either. Keep hoping some ctxs will start up but so far just cramping and some stabby pains in my pelvis.

So I guess we continue the waitathon...

It seems the best advice I've heard is just what mandy said...get the rest while we still can! ELV to everyone!

Lots going on here.

I've been MIA since dh arrived.  We did try some natural induction stuff the night before (last night we were both too exhausted to do anything else but sleep. lol) and it really worked.  I actually had some real contractions and the bh contractions were the most intense I've ever had.  Though obviously my body isn't ready, but we will try it again tonight and then wait until next Friday if nothing happens until then.  Just hanging out until something actually happens.  At least I know what we tried works.thumb.gif

Hey everyone I am back! Baby is great and slept 2-9 am last night solidly. Yahhh! The first two nights I didn't sleep much.. baby was awake and I didn't want to sleep if he was awake!

Just some hope for people... a day and a half before he was born my cervix was high, posterior and only 1 cm. She couldn't do a sweep because it was too high she couldn't reach. A day and a half later when I *thought* I might be in labour I was checked and I was 7 cm with my sac BULGING out a few cm. Baby was born 5.5 hours later!! The contractions that got me to 7 cm were fairly mild, and only hurt going over bumps on the road in the last half hour.

Baby was also sort of posterior going into labour. I spent an hour or so standing during contractions leaning with my head on my arms on the sink (so belly button pointing down) and baby turn spine anterior really quickly.  I didn't really do positioning stuff during either of my pregnancies, and both went spine to front during labour.

Anyway happy birthing wishes to all of you still waiting!!

Congrats mama! Thanks for posting all of these very hopeful, helpful details of your labor and birth. You're a sweetie. orngbiggrin.gif

HappyMonkey I am so so glad for you! That's exactly why I've refused internal exams, I know it would just drive me crazy!! Congratulations on the birth...job well done mama! Enjoy your baby, can't wait to see some pics??

Congrats happymonkey!! Sounds like everything went great!!

Anyone noticing how many fast easy labors are being reported with all these new babes!?  So nice to hear:)

This will probably be the one time I get a long labor! I just have a feeling... my longest was 5 hours total, then 3, and 3. So this will probably be a 3 day labor :)

P.S. I'm really irritable and unpleasant to be around today. I ran to the drug store and almost unleashed on a lady who nicely said "You must be getting close?"  I just smiled and said yes, but I was rubbed the wrong way. I've lashed out at DH a few times too, and my girls (ages 2 and 3) are whiny today, and I haven't exactly been patient. My poor family... I need to change this attitude quickly.

Camillebethany I know how you feel, I'm also a total grouch with no provocation!! My fingers are crossed that you are wrong about the 3 day labor prediction!

Is extreme fatigue ever a sign of labor? I feel like my body is slowing down, conserving energy? I mean, this is finals-week-starbucks-closed exhausted...it hurts to keep my eyes open! I've been nesting all month, everything is clean and folded and set up, and I really feel like my body is just getting ready. I don't know, maybe I'm just desperate for some sign of something happening.

I'm definitely getting grouchier too! Every morning I wake up kind of pissed to have not gone into labor during the night before. :)  And every time I walk into work, I'm scowling.  I just do. not. want. to go to work anymore, and I'm annoyed to still be pregnant every time I have to do it.  <sigh>  Soon enough, I guess...

Oh gosh, it makes me feel so much better to read that other people are getting really grouchy too. I want to spend as much time as I can with my kids usually. But this afternoon I was a total grump and went to hide in my bedroom for an hour and a half. I just was disappointed because I was half hoping that today would be the day seeing that my midwife won't be in L&D for another week or so now. It's unlikely that I'll have her at my birth now which makes me want to cry. Plus, I keep getting, "I cannot believe you haven't had the baby yet!" "Is the baby here? Is it coming?" No, he's not coming yet and I can't believe I'm still pregnant either!

I'm really sad because an OB wants to see me Tuesday and the only time she could see me is 10:45am. They want an ultrasound the same day and the only available time is 8am. This means I'm going to be gone the whole morning, likely until my younger two are in bed for nap. Tuesday is my son's third birthday. It breaks my heart that someone else is going to greet him as he wakes for his on his third birthday and that there's a possibility that I could have his brother on his special day. *sniffles* I'm praying that I don't and I'm thinking about driving back and forth twice even if it is a 15 minute drive either way.

Mom: So WHEN is your due date?

Me: Late Sept/early Oct.

(This has been for months now!)

Today:

Sister: Mom, are you going out of town for the pig roast?  Oh, that's right you don't know when she (loos at me) is due so you can't plan.

Me: I have said late Sept/early Oct. FOR MONTHS now.  An EDD is ONE DAY in a 4 week window.

Mom: I have never heard that. I had ALL my kids within 3 days of that date.

Me:  Well your Dr. Didn't explain things very well.

Go. PLEASE just go.  I am SO over you and your passive aggressive "I can help/I can't help." crap.  Over. Done and moving on!

I feel your pain!! My mom keeps wanting to talk about heer birth experiences, and I keep saying to her, "you had 3 c-sections and only a few hours of early labor!". I am most amused that she couldn't understand why I would want frozen pads for after the birth, SHE never needed any...yeah, its a vaginal birth kind of thing mom!!! Thankfully she lives on the east coast and I can avoid her calls and stick to sporadic texts.

That sounds dreamy :)  :)  :)

My mom lives 15 minutes away, and luckily is really not annoying. My MIL on the other hand... don't even get me started!

I went to get a sandwich today, and the guy making my sandwich asked how many kids I have, I told him this was #4, and he said "Wow, good job. You're a hot mama."  That lifted my spirits a bit :)

I took a short nap, can't say it was the best nap, but I woke up with a lot of energy and was able to get the down stairs cleaned, some laundry done, and my girls room clean (those were all the rooms that needed the most attention).
