Nursing, pregnant, and overweight.

I am not sure where to put this so please move it if I got it wrong.

I am significantly overweight, but healthy, and active. I eat healthy and work out regularly and have a pretty active lifestyle.

I just found out I am pregnant and I am nursing my almost 2 y/o round the clock.

I am kind of nervous about gaining too much weight. My last and only pregnancy I ate unhealthily and was not informed until mid pregnancy, needless to say I gained way too much weight. I did still have great BP and was no where near GD. I gave birth at 238lbs with no issues, un-medicated.

I am 197lbs now and IDK exactly how to handle this. Everything I am reading says to eat a ton b/c I am nursing and pregnant. I don't eat any carbs except fruit as it is and I don't plan on putting carbs back really. I certainly do not want to diet, but I guess I am looking for support/a
dvice.

How much should I gain ideally?

Is it enough to eat just based on hunger?

I'm thinking eating a high fat high veg diet would be best, I did start eating primal/paleo recently and I think that would be a good option during pregnancy. IDK if I should have a higher fat ratio b/c I am pregnant and nursing though...? Thoughts? (please don't make this a primal diet health debate)

I'm interested in hearing some responses to this.  My inclination is to tell you to listen to your body.  I would really try to make sure that you are getting all of the vitamin/nutrients that you need in order to be supporting the babies and yourself.  IMO that doesn't necessarily mean changing your diet, but if your body is telling you that you need something, I don't think that you should deprive yourself, even if it's not technically within the definition of whichever diet you are following - your body will know better than the "rules" what you need.  I think once we are eating a healthier diet, it's much easier to listen to what our bodies are telling us. If you are eating healthy calories, I think that you should eat as much as you need to to feel full, and not worry about the number of calories you are eating.

congrats on your pregnancy!!
