I am new to this site, i start by saying that. my husband and i are trying for a baby soon, yet if we did i would spent my 21st pregnant. my 33yr husband and i understand I'm young and have a few life markers to go threw. i cant make up my mind about if i should wait till I'm twenty one? or celebrate after I'm ready? we really want a baby, yet i don't want to miss out on anything. and i kinda feel selfish for that. my husbands great he is very understanding he wants me happy:) thank you for your time.

Welcome to MDC!!  wave.gif  You might get more responses in the Family Planning forum where members discuss child spacing, having babies at different ages, etc.  There is also a TTC in your 20's thread that you could join and ask for other experiences.  Personally my 21st birthday was nothing super exciting and if I was in the emotional and physical place where I was ready to have a baby I don't think I'd put it off to go out drinking for one night.  Most of us don't have our first drink on our 21st birthday, so for me it wasn't really anything new.

That being said, having a baby is a major life changing event and will put a kink in way more plans than just a birthday.  Going out, free time, finishing school, traveling, etc. might all be put on hold for several years depending on your situation.  So there is a lot to consider when you make the decision to be a mom.  Good luck!

I had my DD when I was 19, never looked back. I wouldn't trade her for anything and I love being a mom!

I was pregnant on my 21st birthday and it really wasn't a huge deal for me.  And while I love being a mom (and a young mom at that), there have definitely been a lot of sacrifices I've made for my family.  Every one is absolutely worth it to me!  Best of luck in deciding when the best time will be for you!

I also was pregnant on my 21st...hugely pregnant in fact. lol...It wasn't much of a bummer...I was so excited about the coming birth and meeting my baby that, really, it just didn't matter.
