Homebirth Midwife in OKC

We are moving to OKC in December and I'm due with our third baby in April.  I don't know a single person in that area, so I would like some input on the midwives who practice in the city.  I know there is Heaven Sent Birth and CMS.  Can anyone comment specifically on what they liked about either group?  Has anyone met with both to compare?  I feel like I'm walking in blind...

Thank you!

I remember reading some people not liking CMS, but I don't remember exactly why. I've read just as many from people liking them too. So I can't be much help there.

I met with Heaven sent 2 1/2 years ago (sorry 4 years ago, I just realized it was with DD2, not DD3 :p), I liked them, but they wanted their money by a deadline. Since you're coming in so late in the pregnancy, they may expect all the money at the first appt. That was the reason I didn't use them. I went in late into the pregnancy and would have had to come up with 2K in something like 2 weeks. Oh, I do remember the dr and hospital they use to transfer would not be my first choice.

Good luck! Hope you like the city!

Hi! I used Heaven Sent, did not meet with CMS so have no comparison. Yes it is true all the money is due by your 35 or 36th week, can't remember exactly. I was very pleased with my care. The two midwives are always available for questions/concerns, they are all about being informed. They really do care about you and your family. I did end up transferring after 24 hrs of labor with little progress, I had gone into labor at bedtime so I was awake for days and just exhausted by that time. They transfer to OU childrens and I have to say it was great, I would recommend that hospital to anyone having a baby.

Sounds like things have changed since I met with them.... 4ish years ago. They wanted their money @ 20 something weeks (I remember this cause I think I was 24-26? weeks and they wanted their money w/i a couple weeks) and transfered to st anthony? I think? I honestly don't remember, but I know it wasn't OU, it was a smaller hospital. OU was the hospital I was planning to use when I met with them so I know it wasn't there.

Thank you both for chiming in!  Oddly, Heaven Sent never returned my phone message or email.  I did interview CMS (have talked to 2 of the 3 MWs there so far) and they sounded great.  Pro-informed choice, very "just tell us what you need and that's how we will do things," etc.  They put me in their books for April, which was already nearly booked.  In a way, I'm glad I didn't have to decide after interviewing both.  I know I would have constantly second-guessed the decision.  I'm sure Margarett is a wonderful midwife, and I have only heard nice things about her.  I am just taking this as a sign that CMS is where I'm supposed to be this time around.  I am excited about moving forward with this group of women and will update everything afterwards for future searchers :)
