So DD is 2 and a 1/4 and has been interested in all things potty for several months now. We made an abortive attempt at potty training when she was just shy of two but she was hysterical about accidents so I just put her back in diapers and let it go. Right now, we're on day two of our current potty training attempt and...it is weird.
Â
For one thing, she had zero accidents today. Yesterday, she wore cloth training pants and came running to me every time she started peeing in them demanding that I change them. Today, she has had zero accidents and has come running to me before peeing. On the downside, when I then help her sit down on the potty she becomes hysterical when she knows the pee is about to come out. After she pees, she calms down fairly quickly and is very proud of herself but, in that moment, she is really upset and scared. I don't know what to do with that.

I don't think she has a UTI because she was peeing fine yesterday. And she is way way more hysterical if I let her get up from the potty in a panic and pee gets on the floor. DD is kind of a perfectionist and loathes mess of any kind. I don't know whether it would be better to wait this out for a few days or to stop cold and put her back in diapers. Of course, option two would be easier if DD would pee in her diapers which she now refuses to do. If I remind her that she can use her nighttime/nap diaper she says, "no no, want to be clean and dwy!"
