How to eat healthy with "morning sickness?"

DD is 13 months and I am 5 weeks with #2.  I had morning sickness with the first for 5 months and was put on the weight in the end.  It seems like when I get a craving that particular food is all I can stomach.  Thinking of anything else repulses me.  Except for perhaps some raw fruits and veggies, crackers, etc.  I am BFing my daughter so nutrition is all the more important this time around.  Fortunately, I only lost half of my pregnancy weight and was overweight to begin with so I've got plenty of fat stores but that's not enough.  How do I make myself eat healthy and not run out to Waffle House and Subway?  Anybody drink lots of smoothies during pregnancy?  Any other ideas?  I am alone practically all day and late into the evening so healthy eating is hard with nobody to monitor me.

protein is probably one of the most important things you can have for both the pregnancy and your nursing, as a bonus many women find a high protein diet to significantly reduce their morning sickness.

i survived my pregnancy and still love Orgain organic protein drinks, the link i gave is to amazon and they have a subscribe feature that makes it the cheapest way to get them.

Protein drinks got me through the first trimester, as well. I usually drank the Bolthouse Farms protein drinks because they are available locally and have pretty decent ingredients. Some days that was the only thing I could keep down.

Just do your best. At this point, that is all you can do. Small, frequent meals with protein can be helpful in staving off the ms. I found beans to be filling and easy to keep down. Cheese is also on the list for me. Keeping the meals small and eating every 2-3 hours will keep your blood sugar steady, as well. With this pregnancy, I drank a lot of smoothies in the beginning. That allowed me to get down some yogurt and fruit that I otherwise could not get down. I also used digestive enzymes to speed up digestion.

If you have a time of day that you're able to keep more food down, take advantage of it. I take my vitamins and cold liver oil at night when I'm least likely to feel sick. Taking a whole-food vitamin might also make keeping vitamins down easier. They don't smell as bad and are easily absorbed.
