Thought id post it here also...

Hi ladies.. We are 8DPO and my DPs temps are still higher than normal is that good? I read somewhere that they start dipping sooner you get to starting AF, if it comes, and it stays higher if your prego.. Is this true? Im not trying to get my hopes up lol but the things I read make me feel like wow thats whats happening with us, ya kno. lol.. Like always every month her boobs are sore a week prior to her getting her AF and they are not.. lol I think im making myself hope to much lol.. We are going to probabaly take a pregnancy test Fri or Sat to see what it says if she hasnt started. When do you girls test? Or do you just wait and see if AF comes?

I had a craptastic day yesterday. I was all zen about this cycle and not getting my hopes up since it was basically our "trial run" and wasn't even planning on testing unless it seemed that I absolutely needed to. Well, DP was getting a little antsy and asked if I would test, so I did. Well apparently it's been a while since we did this TTC thing because I accidentally tested with an OPK - and didn't realize it. So of course a second (faint) line came up and DP and I thought we were pregnant all morning. THANK GOODNESS I didn't go shout it from the rooftops. I finally realized my mistake - went to the pharmacy, got and actual HPT and tested negative. SO disappointing and I feel SO silly. Ugh. Anyway. That's where we are at. Today I'm 11 DPO but am pretty sure this cycle is a bust. I usually get my BFPs at around 9 DPO, so a 10 DPO BFN is not a good sign - not to mention the cramps, etc. So. Boo.

Oh NO! I think I would want to crawl under a rock and die after that. What a mean joke, universe! Here's hoping it actually is a BFP and you find out soon... but if not, I hope you are able to regain your zen!

We inseminated today...can you move us to 2ww?

seraf -- ha, i see we are mutual moochers. DP's said they have something like cream of wheat here, but we can't seem to find it. and the french word "farine" means flour, so it will be fun trying to sort that out. thanks for the good luck wishes...i need them!

isa -- small obsessions is now bookmarked on my spanking new laptop. i love the color scheme, btw. very pleasing to the eye. and thanks about the drawing. it's actually something i based off a photo i took of my nephew a couple of years ago. i don't think it's is a very good representation of the original, but i'm still trying to teach myself how to draw. i finally finished the drawing yesterday, and i was going to give my sister a nicely printed copy of it, but somehow it doesn't feel like it's good enough for that. and if i tried to draw a picture of my dream baby, it would end up being some strange dali-esque/seussian thing. probably better if i don't post that. i guess i'll keep up with you on the blog since we won't being seeing you as much here... bittersweet. you mentioned needing nibbly things from europe. any specific cravings?

ad astra -- i'm asking for the estradiol because i've had extremely light and short periods for the last six months or so, and the last two ultrasounds i've had have confirmed my suspicion that my lining is too thin. i've heard that it can help build a thicker lining, and i'm also hoping it will counteract the drying effect clomid has on ewcm. i hope that i can get that and a trigger, but there are no guarantees. i am indeed taking in some notes to my appointment, although i don't know yet if i will just use them to help me argue my case or hand them over to her to read for herself. i can already feel the grammar errors and mispronunciations gathering on the back of my tongue... i actually teach english to art/film students. it's kind of a dream job, as i can wear whatever i want and teach whatever i want. i'm the teacher who makes sure they understand all the dirty words and expressions they hear in english language films and songs and the teacher who makes them think about and explore their own creative gifts. i adore most of my students and never ceased to be amazed and even moved by some of the things they turn in for class. i can only say "cheers" in polish. and even though it was at the top of my list of places to visit when i was in peace corps in eastern europe, i sadly never made it to poland. you must have left at a young age for your english to be so perfect. will you teach your future LOs some of the language and traditions? if nothing else, you must pass on the food! (i would kill for the pierogis my polish students used to bring to class!)

cananny -- i'm so very sorry about AF. i hope next time around is your time.....or both your and DPs time.

pleasantly -- ugh, that would kill me to see two lines and then realize it was an opk. and i could totally see it happening to me. i'm so sorry that the preg test was negative, but 10dpo is still super early. maybe there's still a chance? hang in there.

afm... the slightly dreaded doctor's appointment is tomorrow afternoon. i wrote up an explanation (that DP translated into perfect french) of the problems i seem to have and asked for estradiol and a trigger to see if they solve those problems. it's going to be extremely stressful to talk to her one-on-one, as she's a bit brusque. she's the woman who, upon seeing a bad pap smear result, told me i needed a hysterectomy asap.... i had to leave her office and go cry in the bathroom that time around. anyway, i'm going to try my damnedest to make myself heard tomorrow. other than that i'm feeling pretty low these days, and i can't seem to snap myself out of it. blah.

gelly - thanks for taking over the thread... now I hope its not to much to ask to also start us off with a BFP!

pleasantlyfurious- that sounds like a making of a hellish, disappointing day... sorry you had to go through it. don't feel silly - first thing in the morning blurry eyed most of us will pee on anything resembling a strip or a stick (I think my DP hides her tooth brush in the medicine cabinet just in case!)

nosreves- sorry you are feeling down... I hope you drs appoitnment goes well - let us know. I hear aspirin can help with the lining and EPO can help with EWCM. Sounds like you have an amazing job. I'm also frequently amazed and moved (to tears) by some of the things my students turn in and ask in class eg. can a girl get pregnant from oral??? :)

We were planning on trying to make our LO bilingual in English and French (since there are the 2 official languages here - most schools offer French immersion programs).

I think Ryan air has a direct flight to Krakow (great city to visit with amazing history) so why not plan a weekend get away. I definitely miss being able to hop on a train or plain and just go to another country in couple of hours. As for your pierogi cravings my friends who live in Paris go to La Crypte Polska.

afm - 8 DPO today, my progesterone test yesterday was fine so on to more waiting

Sara, congrats on the job! I'm ready for your BFP on the 9th, that's my birthday!

Good luck Gelly, thank you for our beautiful new thread. When is your beta? I seem to remember the 2nd being the day... am I making that up?

Nosreves, I will be thinking of you as you stand up for yourself! It must be so frustrating to not be able to communicate everything you wish to, especially to someone who does not sound like the patient, helpful type. I believe you can do it, have courage!

Pleasantlyfurious, that SUCKS! I'm sorry. Although... I thought positive OPKs could function as pregnancy tests? According to peeonastick.com LH is just HCG with a funny hat on. Any way your BFP is just around the corner?

CaNanny, I know your DP must be taking this one hard. I hope you guys are able to do what you need to do to keep at it.

Ad Astra, do you know when you'll be testing? Good luck!

Afu, we did our first insem early this morning and will be doing our second here in about a half hour, so today is hopefully 'O' day and that would make tomorrow 1 DPO... so, Gelly, would you move us to Braving the TWW? Starting tomorrow we will be continuing our "TWW Countdown Conversations" - this time, I came up with the questions. Mine are much less organized than DW's, haha. We plan on testing on September 12th.

There certainly are a TON of us in the TWW! I can't even imagine how many pregnant queers are going to be here in two weeks! It's just so exciting.

Nos, thanks for the kind words about my blog! I really do hope that at some point I'll have the time and energy to pick up drawing, but I don't think it's in the cards any time soon. Thankfully, my daughter's a fantastic artist, so we've got a houseful of pictures as it is! Also, I hope that your doctor's appointment goes better than expected--assisted reproduction is hard enough without having rude medical professionals to deal with, too.

Isa, I'm rather jealous of the book reviewing--I've always wanted to try a hand at that.

Gelly, pickles are *delicious*, pregnant or no!

Carmen, I've got my fingers crossed for your insem!

PleasantlyFurious, I'm so sorry about the OPK/HPT error! I've done that before, and it's just devastating. I'll keep hoping that it's a sign of things to come--it's not over until it's over, right?

Our sperm showed up today, and I took my last Clomid. My cervix is way high, but not super-soft yet, but I think that we'll use the first vial tomorrow and cross our fingers. My cycle's still sort of funky from the miscarriage, so I'm trying to prepare myself to have this cycle be a total bust...but, you know, hoping desperately that it somehow won't be.

Thanks for the new thread, gelly! Your chart looks great, btw :) When are you going to test?

nosreves, good luck at the doctor today!

handerson, I usually test around 10 or 11 DPO but I think a lot of people like to wait until AF is actually late before testing. Totally up to you and your DP. Just know that you can get an early BFN (before 14DPO) and have it turn into a BFP.

pf...oh my! That must have been some crazy rollercoaster ride for you and your DP :( Sorry you had to go through that.

Afm: 6DPO today. I was looking at last month's chart and the first 6DPOs on this month's chart follow almost the exact same pattern. Weird. I have no symptoms yet. I started having some cramping on 7DPO last time and my nipples started to get sensitive around the same time.

thanks to everyone for the good wishes. i just got home from my appointment, and it went much like expected. i couldn't convince her to give me the trigger (i think she's afraid of multiples, to be honest) and instead of estradiol, i got estriol. she thinks that will give me lots of EWCM...i hope she's right. i tried EPO for a couple of months, but it did nothing while i was on clomid last month. i explained to the doc that i was worried about my lining being to thin, but she never completely addressed this issue. she just told me that it can take two years of trying especially given my age. so now i am taking baby aspirin, and i have an acupuncture appointment for next week. i don't know what else i can do. it looks like we might be being tickets to denmark some day soon.

Two reasons not to count yourself out:

1. 11DPO is too early. I have a woman on another board that regularly tests on DPO11 and in her other pregnancies always thought by 11DPO she'd know. This time nothing and so she was convinced she wasn't. AF was late, tested on DPO17 and there it was -- a BFP!

2. There is a lot of chatter on the web about OPKs as an alternate pregnancy test. I did that on my first pregnancy because I was too nervous to test on a regular HPT. It showed a second line, more clearly than I usually get on an LH surge. I didn't get a positive on HPT until DPO14 but there you have it. Some people swear it can be an initial indicator even though the OPK is looking for a different hormone than a HPT.

So, hang in there. Don't beat yourself up too much and be too disappointed! I know it's not easy.

DesertSunsets - we share a birthday!!

Beta this morning. Gah. I hate beta days. I should know by 3:00 california time.

#17 ·
KSDoula - Thanks. It's nice to see you again around here too! I think I'm almost back to zen ;)

nosreves - Thank you. I can't believe I did that! Sorry the appointment didn't go as you'd hoped :(

ad astra - hahahahaha. I suppose I can take comfort in the fact that I have not yet peed on a toothbrush.

Desert Sunsets - Thanks. I suppose anything is possible but with the negative HPT I'm pretty sure the OPK was meaningless. No hats to be found.

meghanc - yes, not over-over until it's over :) Good luck with O!

Carmen - it certainly was. But it was kind of cool to go through all those emotions. I was happy, shocked, in denial (ha), and really mourning the impending end of Leo being an only child - like hardcore. So now that I'm back to "normal" it's been a good reminder to make the most of this fleeting time we have together without any distractions. (she says as she checks these boards for the second time today... It's naptime! I swear!)

kgulbransen - thanks for the hope :)

fivegrandbaby - fingers crossed!

OK, need some help...
DW and I did our second and last insemination Monday evening @ 10:45. I hadn't gotten a +opk but it was our last opportunity on this trip to insem. I got a -opk last night around 9pm but today at 1:30pm I got my first +opk.
Is there still a chance or should I brace myself for af?

Welcome to September everyone!! I'm a huge fan of Autumn so I"m super excited.

Gelly: Thanks for taking the thread! I hope it brings you luck!

Nos: That sucks so much about your snooty Dr. I'm assuming you are stuck with her for some reason and so can't go to some one better at patient interactions. Is it because you are having to get IF care in secret? I will never understand how France can be so cool about GLBTQ relationships but not about GLBTQ having kids. But then again, I can't understand why the US is so weird about GLBTQ at all! I hope that the new items in your ttc toolbox do the trick. I've heard a lot of positive outcomes from baby aspirin for thickening up lining.

Pleasantlyfurious: That mistake would just crush me! But I, like others on the list, have heard of OPKs being used as pregnancy tests so maybe it was a precursor of good things to come. I

have my fingers crossed.

fivegrandbaby: I wish you a quick day and good news.

I'm at 12 dpo and I'm driving myself insane. I have some good signs happening but I've been fooled before so I'm trying not to get my hopes up. I'm due sometime this weekend. I think I'll test on Saturday if I don't seen anything by then. My luteal phase used always be exactly 14 days but since I started losing weight in January it seems to be shortening up to 12 days. Still well within the "good" range but it makes it harder to figure out if I'm really "late" or just going back to the 14 day LP. Blarg. I hate this part!!

Here's hoping we all see BFPs before the month is out!

It sounds like you're using fresh sperm (correct me if I'm wrong.) Those suckers can live for days in your body, so I would say there is definitely a shot. :)

It sounds like there are A LOT of people in the TWW right now, so I'm wishing everyone good luck. I do not envy you at all! I hate TWW's and I am dreading having to go through one again. Oh well, it's worth all the TWW's go get a baby.

AFM: In addition to the nausea from the pre-IVF birth control pills, I'm also noticing another weird thing going on... I'm super emotional. I mentioned that I had a sort of PPD depression while weaning, but it's been weeks and I'm feeling great. This is not depression, it's just um, hormonal weepiness. I feel like I am already pregnant. The other night the radio was on in the car and it was Delilah... you know, where people call in with these sappy, nauseating stories and request songs? I HATE her radio program. Well, the other night this person was sharing a story about her daughter who decided to work with a program designing schools and things for communities in need in India and it made me cry. Today, I was reading some stories on a surrogacy message board and that made me cry too! Has anyone else done the BCP thing and had hormones like this? I feel like I'm pregnant already between the "morning sickness" and the emotional behavior. I've been on birth control in the past (when I was in a relationship with a guy) and it never did this! I'm blaming it on the fact that it's a high-dose pill.

Helllllllo September! I woke up this morning and thought "holy crap, this is the month!". DW was in the shower and I was brushing my teeth and she pulled back the curtain and started dancing and singing a made up song that was something like "woo hoo, this is the month we make a baby, uh huh, this is it..." Very cute
orngtongue.gif

Thanks for the lovely new thread Gelly!

Fivegrand - Fingers are so, so, so tightly crossed for you - they are starting to go numb
winky.gif
- can't wait to hear your good news!

noreves - I'm sorry you've been feeling so down
hug2.gif
I hope the baby aspirin and the acupuncture work wonders for you.

pleasantly - oh no - what a terribly sad mistake. But I am holding out hope that it was a SIGN! And that you will see two lines on the *right* kind of test very soon.

Yeledov - fingers crossed for you too!

KS - I'm sorry you've been on an emotional roller coaster! Do you plan on blogging about this experience? You know we're always around if you need to talk :) I sure do wish we lived closer to one another. It was nice having you guys around so much this summer! Thank you so much for your kind words on our blog re: my freak out. Made me all teary :) Hugs to L & G!

sara, isa and carmen - thanks to you as well for making me feel normal about having anxieties about starting the process. I am so, so excited but also so, so scared. Like that episode of Saved by the Bell....(anyone know what I'm talking about...?)

AFM - we're hitting the road today after work for a long weekend in Windsor and then Niagara Falls! Driving up with two of our best buddies. Should be a very fun weekend! Oh and I just found out that our #1 donor has 43 vials of ICI currently available - yahoo! Hopefully AF will come when she's supposed to (next Wed the 7th) and I'll be able to claim two of those 43

That sounds exactly how my partner, Monkey reacted to BCP pills when he went on them. His cycles refused to regulate after his last thyroid imbalance (do you see why I'm the one ttc?) so the NP put him on them. For the first 2 months he cried at everything, something he never does! When they upped the dose he had nausea for a few weeks as well. No fun! He had been on them when he was a teen, after his thyroid first pooped out, and he said it wasn't like this before. It is all better now but, unfortunately, it took a few months. I figure you won't be on them long enough for that to help. At least you know that some one else has had that reaction! I hope you don't have to be on them long.

Nosreves: We have been doing insems at home, but we will be switching to my Naturopath's office for the insems this time and if it does not work this time we will be doing all insems at the RE. I am happy to hear AF showed up so you can get started. How is Clomid treating you? Oh my goodness that picture is breathtaking! Are you taking orders?

LOL. I am sorry to hear about your mean Dr. but I commend you for being empowered! I agree that baby Aspirin is supposed to help with lining, I have been taking it since CD1 so we will see on Saturday if it has made any difference in the lining.

Carmen:

Yeledov: Have you tested yet? Sending you lots of Baby Dust!

PrettyIsa: Yes it was a wonderfully quick labor and her baby girl is so beautiful!

Ad Astra: You & I think exactly alike especially about science things and that is what scares me! I hope we will both be holding new bundles of joy this time next year! Do you feel like testing out the HCG makes you more of a POAS addict or less? I have been trying to decide whether to test out the trigger shot or not.

Gelly: I nominate you as well, even though it has been decided LOL! I am wishing you lots of threadkeepers luck!

Cananny: I am so sorry to hear about AF

We have 2 days to go before our u/s to check the follicles and lining, these items coming have made it so real and yet a bit scary. The HSG went well yesterday and everything looks great, it did hurt but I am hoping that everything is now squeaky clean and provides a "super highway" for the spermies & eggs to meet! As I mentioned above my Doula client had her beautiful baby girl on Monday after a super short labor & pushing! I am heading to her house today for her postpartum visit and I can't wait to hold that brand spanking new baby and hope that she rubs off some good luck

I do have a question... how long are the vials good in the cryotank? The bank says 5-7 days including shipping, but I am getting concerned about the vial if the follicles aren't mature on Saturday, today is already Day 3
