Renavoo  (35) TTC#1 for about 2 years. Tests all "normal." Argh! 4 IUIs and one failed IVF cycle. Awaiting a FET mid October

Blueyezz4 TTC #1 (technically #4 - long story) since 2006; Moving on to our 3rd Fresh IVF in Oct. after 5 failed IUI's, 2 failed IVF's and a failed FET.  Hoping & praying for a miracle. Mother to our twins boys - lost at 22.5wks on 6-20-09 and another little angel in heaven lost at 8wks!

deborahbgkelly (29) TTC #1 IVF scheduled for November. Turns out DH  is fine. I am on DHEA and at a therapeutic dose. Start all the other meds mid-October. Fertility issues- Endo, hypothyroid, diminished ovarian reserves.

SimplyRochelle TTC #1 since May 2007; one loss at 12 weeks in September 2008; seeking holistic treatment and continuing naturally at this point; 2 failed clomid cycles; crappy insurance and limited financial resources while in nursing school keep us from going further but we'll get there one day

Silverbird TTC #1 with MFI and one ovary

fierrbug Tiara (33) DH (34) TTC #1 since 2001, 3 mc’s. Adult Growth Hormone Deficiency (AGHD) which relates to other hormone/insulin/egg quality issues + some clotting properties. In limbo awaiting a miracle to get GH injections in conjunction with a future IUI

rhiandmoi TTC #1 since November 2008. Just starting to get tested to see what is going on

Trying To Conceive #2

TenzinsMama TTC#2 since January 2011.  Past diagnosis of Unexplained Infertility, although egg quality is now highly suspect.  DS conceived via Clomid/ IUI in December 2009.  Total Clomid/IUIs: 5 (over two separate time periods).  Early losses: 2.  What's next?:  Awaiting 'the call' for IVF.

RCR TTC #2 since December 2007. One failed IVF, three failed medicated IUI cycles (follistim, menipur, and gannirelix). Planning a few more IUIs, then back to IVF if those don't work. Thankful every day that we have great infertility insurance coverage. Severe MF, poor egg quality, one early loss in July 2010.

MammaBird 41 yo with a 7 yo dd (who starts 2nd grade today!) and have been ttc#2 since July 2010.  1 m/c in 10/2010 :-(  Tried Femara, Follistim, and IUI this cycle.  I'm currently 3 dpIUI and am planning to test on 9/12 if nothing happens before then.  Unexplained secondary infertility - ahhhhhhhhh!!!

Aprilmom  We are trying for #2 since July 2007 - first cycle of IVF

Wendlynnn TTC #2 since Sept. '09. Have a 3yr old DD and 3 losses in the last year (11weeks, 5wks, 6wks). Now I'm doing the dr run around - trying to find someone who will help me, test me, ANYTHING!

Gozal (33) trying for number 2 since 2009. Finally diagnosed with prolactinoma after extended breastfeeding; PRL levels normal 4/11; ectopic pregnancy 6/11; doing monitored natural cycles for now and Clomid if needed.

Lydiah Lidia (29) DH (28)....TTC #2 since October 2009 while handling my symptoms of Crohn's Disease with Remicade since March 2010. Have had 4 early losses, though those were while healthy. Going to a specialist in July 2011!!

Hope4light unofficially TTC#2.  Severe MFI, only option is IVF w/ICSI.  Down to 2 options for a new RE (we moved), and getting ready to have consults with them and decide where to go

Jenger TTC#2 since August 2009, diagnosed with mild hypothyroidism in August 2010

tryingfortwo TTC#2 since Nov 2008. Unexplained secondary infertility, hoping that a naturopath can figure out what's going on and recommend something that will help us get PG!

Wallabi Sara, mama to a fabulous four year old who came home at age two and a half, fighting primary infertility on and off since 2002 with endo and gluten troubles - one year gluten free! - hoping 2011 will see me pregnant!

Gale (29) TTC#2 for 20 months. Have had the complete IF work-up and HSG and DH has had SA - everything checked out just fine. We have done 3 rounds of 50mg Clomid and had first iui on November 29th

CassnBeth TTC#2 for us since August 2010...TTC#1 for me for 2 years. Suffering from PCOS and remembering 4 early losses!

Emski4379 TTC #3 since April '10. Having (finally!) regular, but annovulatory cycles. Starting SI and will move on to chlomid if they SI don't work

zanelee TTC#3 for almost 5 years now. Secondary IF due to cervical cancer surgery. Had extensive endo removed and cervix manually dialated (so dh's boys could get in!) in late fall of 2010, and now trying on our own for a few months. Can't decided whether or not to start clomid. Praying for a miracle!

Kylie1 I'm 30 years old (almost), TTC4 and have been since November 2010. Getting closer to a full year...sigh. I have a balanced translocation (http://www.rarechromo.org/information/Other/Balanced%20translocations%20FTNW.pdf) and have one DSD and two DDs (one with a balanced translocation and one with normal chromosomes). I've had four miscarriages, to date-two before DD1 and two after DD2.
MoOnFiReGlOw TTC #4 since April '09. Had MFI due to medications. Now off meds for 1 month and hoping to get a bfp here soon

Hi Ladies,

I hope everyone will join me in this journey. Technically, i definitely know i won't be getting a BFP this month since my FET isn't until next month. I'm even on BCPs this month...ewww. I blame BCPs for a lot of my TTC issues (illogical, I know) but I'm being forced to take them in preparation for my transfer. oh well.

But, I am hoping that people join us and share their stories and most importantly, that we get a lot of successes this month (and every month, actually!) All of us are under so much stress from TTCing that hearing about successes really does give us hope. And helping each other through this journey helps remind us that we're not alone and that we have wonderful, caring people out there that are looking out for us.

Hey ladies, I'd like to join this thread.

Here is my blurb:

Sourire (29) DH (32) - TTC # 1 since August 2010 with short luteal phase.

Just to give you a bit of background I've been trying all sorts of natural methods to lengthen my LP for years. I also tried Clomid for 3 months which made my LPs even shorter and made me go insane... to the point that I am currently on medical leave from work. This month I tried just Prometrium and my LP was 15 days! The longest LP I ever had before was 9 days and usually I would start spotting between 5-7 DPO so you can imagine how excited I was. I didn't get a BFP that cycle but I am very encouraged because Prometrium is the first thing that ever worked for my LP (and I have tried every possible thing!) So I'll keep trying Prometrium for another month or two, then it's on to Femara, then it's IUI (my doctor wants me to start IUI immediately but I'm too scared).

Welcome Sourire! I think I've met you before on another thread and I'm sorry you haven't graduated yet but I'm happy you decided to join us! Yah for prometrium! How do you take it? I found that oral prometrium gave me horrific side effects but using it vaginally was quite easy! I worry that my luteal phase is a bit short too so I'm happy that I'm on protocols that require me to supplement with progesterone. I assume you're going to also TTC naturally for the next two cycles as well and then move on to medicated cycles if you don't get your BFP? I hope you do get your BFP this month though!

Blue, YAH! I'm happy you're on this thread too!! haha yeah it is difficult to keep it straight but I've been on these forums for a while and I've always relied on others to start the threads so I'm giving back to the community :o)

Thoughts: Was prescribed chlomid by the Dr., but DH wasn't keen on the idea. Finally got him to agree to the SI, which I will take next cycle. Not sure why my cycles became crazy, or why I am not ovulating.

Hi Ladies- I would also like to be added. I am making the leap from the One Thread in TTC & embracing my current status. We had our testing done and have an appointment to review everything next Wednesday. I have a lot of questions for the doctor before I agree to Clomid, I would really like to try Femara instead, but I'm not sure how to make my case for it, or if they even use that as a treatment. I will also strongly suggest Prometrium after reading how well women with LP spotting respond to it even with no response to NPC. All I know so far is my tubes are clear, my DH has A+ swimmers, and I spot from O until AF.

Trying Since: Married July 2010, trying ever since - had 3 miscarriages in 2010
Plan for this Cycle: Took one round of Clomid (cd5-9) had horrible side effects, now have an ovarian cyst on each side.  Took myself off all meds this month.

Thoughts: Any input/advice/encouragement welcome and reciprocated!  Had normal periods until the investigations started early this year - then all of a sudden stopped ovulating  Took Metformin for 4 months - hated every minute of it - felt nauseated, bloated and had horrible GI upset - stopped taking it this month with the start of another AF.  Not continuing on Clomid until I can be properly monitored.

Welcome Emski, Cbaa and BabyCatcher!! We're happy to have you join us although we're sad that you're going through what you're going through. I hope that you get a lot of comfort from knowing that you're not alone and hopefully, you guys will graduate soon!! Please let me know if  you would like for me to add a short statement to the first post for you (and what you want that statement to be). It's kind of an introduction to everyone who is on this thread and to anyone thinking about joining! Also, it's a great way to tell everyone where you are in this journey.

Emski, why was DH against using clomid? Did your RE give you any idea as to why he/she thinks you're not ovulating?

Cbaa, I used both clomid and femara. I did 3 rounds of clomid and then 1 round of femara (followed by triggers and IUIs); i actually seemed to respond better on clomid (more developing follies) but the clomid decimated my uterine lining, which of course, didn't help!! The femara (plus estrogen) gave me one follie and a fluffy lining so that was a good bet although i wasn't as responsive as I would have liked. With all my medicated cycles (and especially now that i'm doing IVF), I've always been given progesterone supplementation (first month oral prometrium but i really suffered some severe side effects so since then, I've used them as suppositories and now, I use endometrin suppositories) and i have to say...I feel a LOT more comfortable when I'm on progesterone supplementation. My cycles have been all over the place but my LP was always a little short (11-12 days) so the supplementation at least gives me peace of mind!

Baby Catcher, what a great name and a great job! i'm so sorry about your 3 miscarriages and your horrible experience on Clomid! I look forward to one day being unmedicated. Before being diagnosed with infertility, I would rarely use medications because I'm a hypochondriac and I always think that I hate introducing all these chemicals and hormones into my body. I'm hoping that you get your BFP during your unmedicated cycle!! I did find that after my clomid cycles, my cycle actually normalized a bit during my 2 unmedicated cycles. I used to have ~50 day cycles (with shorter LPs) and after clomid, I had a couple of 35 day cycles!! I hope that this is what happens for you!

HI LADIES!!!  Thank you so much Renavoo for starting the september thread!! I have been UBER busy at work the past several days and haven't even had a chance to get online to look!!! To answer your question from the August thread YES it is because of my stupid ex trainee that i'm having to work all of these crazy hours at work...but i'm taking a break from the over time this week.  That way i can enjoy the holiday weekend with my family!!!

Sourier & cbaa2010:  I'm so sorry to see you guys having to come over there from the ONE THREAD but I'm happy that you'll be joining us in our monthly journies to get to our one goal that we all share!!!  HUGS to you ladies. 

Sourier: I'm happy to see that your LP was longer this last cycle.  I was chart stalking you in the ONE THREAD and was really praying that this past cycle was your cycle because your chart looked really good.  I hope that the IUIs work for you!!! I also hope that your time off from work and taking the break you had taken from the ONE THREAD was what you needed to get back on track!!!

Welcome to Mammabird, emski4379, and baby cather also.  I am sorry that you ladies are having to make your way thru this thread also!  I pray that everyone's time here is short lived!!!

Gozal:  I hate that our cycles didn't sync like we were hoping but it would be nice if we could both get our BFP this month!!!  I am so happy that you are able to start trying again...and I know that we usually aren't happy to see AF show up...but i'm SUPER excited for you! I'm happy that you guys made it thru the hurricain this past week...I know that was a scary time for those on the east cost!  We have a tropical depression that will be hitting north alabama with only 30 mph winds by wednesday but the south of alabama and all of mississippi and lousiana are going to be affected by it.  I just hope that it doesn't gain any more force before it hits. 

AFM:  I'm on CD11 and i wasn't able to temp this morning because i shot straight up out of bed to realize that i had over slept this morning and was late for work.  I HATE doing that...though it's the first time i've done that since starting this job.  I have felt rushed all morning now that my day started out like that and i'm sure that i will just keep having a bad day until i get to go home and go to bed to start tomorrow's work day.  At least Football season is here so maybe during my 2ww this time (whenever that might be) i will be able to stay less focused on taking tests and more focused on watching the games with my husband and friends lol.  My temps are like all over the place though this cycle so i have no idea when or if i'll even O this month but we will see.  I'll just take back up to temping in the morning to see where i stand.  I think i'm going to need to throw out my first temp for the month because it was taken so late in the afternoon with the way i had to sleep that day.  Well, i need to get back to working on my reports that are due tomorrow afternoon lol. I will talk to you ladies soon!  Praying for a wonderful month for us!!!

PS Renavoo:  I know that you aren't able to "try" this month but i love to hear your encouraging words throughout the month...it really helps keep my spirits up!!!

OH YEAH...I just made my 3rd house payment yesterday on our new house!! I really feel accomplished for being able to do that...And my family was sooooooo worried about us!!! The only think i'm worried about it affording christmas and birthday for both of our girls.  Seeing as Emma turns 1 on December 6th and  Jayde turns 8 on December 14th.  Then of course christmas is 11 days after Jayde's birthday!  Kids these days don't seem to appreciate a dollar...and i really don't want to kill my daughter's dream of believing in Santa...mainly because i know that she will go back to school and tell the kids there and she has a younger brother at her dad's house (stepbrother) who still believes and I don't want her killing his dream either.  I just wish she understood that it's not about what she gets...and i've tried to make her understand...but her dad and step-mom buy her and her step brother the most expensive things...and I have no idea how they are affording them!!! ANYWAYS, I'm really going now...i will talk to you ladies soon!  Can't wait to get to know those who are knew to the thread and ready for some good updates for those who have been here for a while!!!

Anyway, can I join you all? Some of you already know me from the IVF thread. I am back from a summer-long TTC break and feeling pretty optomistic. Just started injections for my fourth IUI last night. I am on follistim and menipur, and adding gannirelix later.

Hi all, I'd like to come on board to this thread as well.  I've just joined the IVF thread, as that is where we are heading, but since we are on the waitlist at our clinic and it is 2-4 months, thought it would be great to be able to post here, too.  Still holding out hope that something will work for us and we don't need to go down that road, though...

Hi ladies!! Welcome! I am happy that you are here. Being on this thread and the IVF one have been amazing for my journey. I get so much comfort from these ladies and I'm excited that you guys will also get the support!

TenzinsMama, haha yeah it does get a little confusing with the two threads but seriously, I have garnered so much support and I hadn't hosted any threads in the 8 months since I've been on mothering.com so it was time. I still can't believe that you have to wait 2-4 months!! When do you find out exactly when you get started? I hope that you get a free baby before that time :o)

RCR, GOOD LUCK ON THIS CYCLE! I can't wait to congratulate you on a BFP in about 4 weeks . It's so interesting because you're using the same drugs i used for my IVF during your IUI. i didn't realize that they have such similar regimens. Do they only have you take it for 5 days like clomid or femara? If so, which days are you taking it?

Brichole, you of all people deserve some time off!! Congrats on paying your third house payment! it is so exciting, especially when the house is out and out yours since you guys basically had it built the way you wanted it. I'm so happy for you! hehe as for temping, maybe this should be the month that you just have a BDing marathon. ;o) As for Christmas, I also think that the holiday has become way too commercialized. I looooove Christmas but I wish it was simpler where people just are happy being with each other and loving each other. I hope that the money issues don't stress you out too much!

I'm hoping for a BFP this month for a lot of you ladies. haha then I'll think that I'm lucky or something!

Rena - I take Follistim and menipur from Day 3 until I do an hcg injection, and I add gannirelix when I get to 1.2 (or something like that). The protocol is exactly the same as when I did IVF, but instead of PIO injections, I do sippositories (sp?), and, of course, an IUI instead of retrieval/transfer. We are doing it because of our insurance coverage (so it is not as expensive as it would be for most people), and because my eggs are old so the RE thinks that they do better in my body than in the lab. This is my 4th try, so my 5th month of all the shots.

Anyway, leaving work for the weekend. Hope you all have a lovely holiday weekend (well, holiday in the U.S.)

AFM - I should probably give a bit of background, I guess. DS was a pleasant surprise. We were shocked we were pregnant, and had been together for over 7 years. DD took about 6 months of TTC. A bit longer than usual, but still nothing odd.

This third time around, we've been trying for 17 months so far. Started TTC April '10. DD stopped nursing in July '10. My cycles were a bit off but became REALLY wacky in Nov. '10. Starting in November, I had a 67 day cycle, 52 day, 19 day, 23 day, 28 day, and now they've been averaging around 31 days. Also, it seems I stopped O'ing in November as well. As of yet, there is no answer.

So far, the OB prescribed chlomid since I am not O'ing. He also gave me a script for Provera in case I don't get AF. Luckily, since he gave my the Provera script, I haven't needed it. DH was really against me taking any medications but has agreed that if I don't get a BFP by December, than we move ahead with the chlomid. We've talked more about it, and he's OK with me taking SI since they're natural. I am not thrilled about waiting, but feel I need to respect his feelings.

Just a drive-by to say that I'm still back in Houston with no internet, except at parents, though dh just got a smartphone we'll be tethering with. So maybe I can be on again this weekend? If not, I'll be back Wednesday when I'm back in Oklahoma.

No news from me. CD... 12? Not sure. Chart's elsewhere. Nothing happening. Though I was OVERJOYED to finally have my dh back today after 6 days away from him. :)

Wow.. I'm still here as MIA?  Now I feel like I really should post an update!

So.. mostly popping back here because I've forgotten more than I ever know about TTC in the last few years (and I knew A LOT), and this is our first triggered IUI - in fact, I don't think I've even now quite realized that we're doing that this month - which sounds crazy, but honestly, I spend so much time trying to forget that we're TTC these days that.. well, it was a surprise to realize that the drug I had in my purse was HCG.  Which is why I haven't been around. 

We'd done 4 rounds of clomid (1 w. IUI) and then got transferred to the fertility clinic at our city hospital - and then we were on pause for a few more months waiting for workups + me moving and two more for other reasons mostly because I'm an emotional and physical wreck the first few days of my cycle, and can't make a decision to save my life.   Also, all my blood work comes back normal, and the last 6 months or so have almost all had O on CD19 (some were on Clomid), so it's been frustrating - they've taken away my PCOS diagnosis, and we're now in "unexplained". 

Life-wise, DH is still out in Boston (~2hrs away) during the week - I finally moved into a place with housemates, which is saving me a ton of $ every month, and has done wonders for me - the new place is amazing.  It's a log house in the woods, with friends of mine who have a farm for neighbors.  And I had no idea how lonely I was until I moved in with people - I'm so much happier now.  And I'm not staring at the room that was going to be the nursery..  I'll probably need to move when we do get pregnant, but this is a really great place for me to be right now.   Work is frustrating - I'd love to be throwing myself into my career, but no matter how hard I work, my boss can't seem to wrangle a promotion for me.  

Last night I managed the trigger shot - I thought I might need to call one of my doctor or nurse friends, but I was able to do it myself - my leg is still sore, though!   I'd originally kicked DH out of the room because I was worried that his nervousness would make me more nervous, but then I asked him to come back in and he was helpful and supportive and that was great.  (One of my housemates also offered to help if I needed it - the other is terrified of needles!)   I think I remember hearing that you need to take tests to make sure they're negative before they're positive?  My office hasn't told me anything about that.  I've never had a positive test at all, so it's..some mental gymnastics to realize that I'll probably have one, and it won't mean anything.   I don't really remember at all what expected side effects are - the Letrozole had some hot flashes, though not as bad as the last (100mg) clomid round (and without the dizzy spells!), but otherwise I seem to be OK so far. 

So.. yeah.. I'm trying to not be anymore hopeful about this cycle than the last ones - it's just different dice that I'm rolling.  But every once in awhile.... 

(I'm super excited to see Poetgirl and Ann_of_loxley on the graduates list!  I have to admit that I don't remember everyone, but their names stuck out!)

I'm so impressed that you managed the trigger shot. Was it IM? That's amazing! i have issues with even giving myself subcutaneous injections so poor DH has to give them to me. As for the testing, you don't need to do it...usually, the HCG leaves the system in about 10 days. However, I know a lot of the ladies like to test because it gives them something to do and they know that if it goes away and the POAS is positive, it probably means that you're pregnant!! That's quite an expensive proposition unless you get dollar store tests or buy some tests from amazon. Those are quite cost effective :o)

I took both clomid and letrozole with trigger and IUI and i have to say that I had few side effects with either of them. I had some nausea with clomid but generally, I tolerated the drugs well. haha then again, I'm ALWAYS cold so I probably would have appreciated some hot flasheds. ;o)

Monkey, I'm happy DH is home!! I always miss my DH too...it's amazingly wonderful to see them isn't it? No matter where we are, as long as I'm with DH, I'm happy. Although I'm always more happy when i'm home with DH ;o)

Emski, how does your RE check to confirm that you're anovulatory? are you doing regular US?

rcr, I'm jealous of your insurance coverage :o) Although DH's insurance does cover 3 IUIs but we decided not to go ahead with another IUI because it doesn't seem to work for us. However, I always think that maybe we didn't do the IUIs correctly because they triggered me 24 hours before the IUI and I think that most people think 36 hours is the proper time. So, if we need to take a break from an IVF cycle, I think I'll do another iui.

AFM, Nothing much happening. Day 7 of a 21 day BCP prep which is KILLING ME. haha i'm so impatient to get started doing SOMETHING. but next week will be a busy week so i'm hoping that takes my mind off of everything. :o) DH was so adorable today. I get up much earlier than him and he knows that I always eat before he gets up. DH left a bowl for my cereal and a wonderful love note telling me how much he loved me. it was so wonderful and makes me feel so lucky to have him for a partner.
