I take 4 calcium carbonate pills twice a day... it's the ONLY way I can keep from massive muscle cramps and restless legs. Can you get something like that? It's not expensive. It worked within 1/2 a day when I started it. Hugs!! I so understand your situation!!

I have suffered with RLS for YEARS, and it is completely unbearable while pregnant.  My midwife told me to take calcium/magnesium supplements and it is GONE!  It comes back instantly if I miss a dose and I'm constantly feeling like it's about to start, but it never does!  It's like a miracle.  I have never slept while pregnant because of it... and I am for the first time.  It's worked consistently for 10 wks!  Try it!  I am using Rainbow Light food based calcium 500mg/mag 250mg 2x per day, once in the afternoon and once at bedtime.  It has even worked for 10 hr road trips, which are usually the bane of my existence.

Plain calcium has helped a ton with non-pregnant RLS in the past, but nothing like this.  I ADORE this supplement!  :)

Plus all that calcium should reduce the post-pregnancy mouth-full-of-cavities syndrome.  ;)

Oh yeah... before I found this, I was having good luck with a pre-bedtime yoga session that included half moon, cat/cow, followed by warrior 1 and 2, triangle pose, pyramid pose, runner's lunge, reversed runner's lunge, and ground stretches.

Calcium or Cal-Mag would be my recommendation, too. You can get that at any grocery or drugstore. Pregnancy tea made as an infusion has a decent amount of calcium, too.

DDCC to say that I've read that RLS can be caused by anemia. Maybe you could get your levels checked? Cal/mag is also fabulous.

Sorry you're going through this, that does sound terrible.  I've had RLS in my last few pregnancies, and it drove me crazy last time, but it wasn't as bad as you're describing.  I was complaining about it to dh, but I don't think he really gets it.  Sciatic nerve pain, varicose veins, heartburn, etc. were all way easier to deal with than the RLS.

I'm seconding the Cal/Mag.  I couldn't take much calcium with my last pregnancy, and I'm guessing that's why it was so horrible.  I was taking liquid Cal/Mag with the two pregnancies before that, and it was annoying, but only really bothered me if I stayed up too late.

thank you all so much for the suggestions! this will be my third day taking calcium and magnesium!

honestly, i don't know if they work right away but for me i feel the difference and have gotten 2 nights of better sleep...although not completely gone it is pretty darn close!

i am so grateful :)

Yay!  Isn't sleep a relief?  If it continues to be bothersome, maybe try taking an extra tablet before bed.  :)

Glad you're starting to feel better!

I've also had good luck with a homeopathic called "restful legs" by Hylands
