Nursing Mamas TTC September - Page 10

Hey ladies-

I nursed DD1 until a few weeks ago, through my pregnancy with DD2 and almost a year tandem.  I remember my nipples being sore again with DD2, but not nearly as sensitive as with DD1.  It is tough getting used to a smaller mouth again and a different suck.  I did love having a toddler help with engorgement and with clogged ducts.  It was not nearly as bad as the first time, but I still used lanolin and aired them out to prevent cracking and chapping.  I am sure other's have different stories to tell.

So, I have been feeling all sorts of fertility signs since DD1 weaned, and I took a test today (I have a bunch of the dollar world ones stored up).  The test I took  seemed to be invalid as it had pink horizontal streaking.... I took a second test and there is a white line where the test line should be and thin pink stripes on either side.  It reminds me of a STARK negative test.... I really didn't expect anything different, but still always hoping.

I didn't get my cycle back till about 13 months with DD1 and didn't ovulate until 16 months and got my BFP the next month.  I just really don't want to be pregnant in the summer (live somewhere REALLY hot in  the summer and will have 2 active kids wanting to play outside....)

I am so frustrated!

Last month I started using the progesterone cream on 3dpo then on 4dpo I began having a little bit of brown pinky spotting which was gone within hours. I then had nothing until 9dpo when I had some pink late that night. It again went away and my cycle came on full force at 10dpo late at night.

Now here I am here in my current cycle using the progesterone again on 3dpo and this afternoon which is 4dpo I have spotting of very dark brown blood which again went away.

I am not sure if it's hormones and the Corpus Luteum is disintegrating or it's from the progesterone? I am wondering if this cycle there is no hope for a pg now with the spotting even though it has stopped. I am assuming it will be a repeat of last month with it stopping and then starting a day before my cycle comes full force.

The spotting is starting the day after I start using the cream which has me wondering why? Is it me or the progesterone. This is my 3rd cycle using it and the first cycle I had no spotting or bleeding until my cycle started.

So I decided to increase my dosage figuring that maybe I am not taking enough. I just increased to the maximum dosage they instruct you to take. On some levels I want to stop the progesterone cream and just let whatever happens happen because with the spotting there is probably no chance I am pg but then I can't because if there is even still the smallest hope I have to keep taking it. ...

Feels like this cycle is a waste..:(

I am not sure if the next cycle I am going to take the progseterone..I am thinking not! I will just keep taking the chasteberry and not the progesterone.

Batia - I had spotting on from 2 dpo to 6, on 6 it was so heavy that I was convinced AF had arrived, then it went away but came back again at 10 dpo, so maybe the spotting isn't totally a bad sign? I was taking vitb6 but then someone suggested taking vitb12 as well, I don't know if it's just coincidence but the spotting stopped when I started taking the vitb12, I missed it on day 9 and then had more spotting the next day. Maybe it's something worth trying?

You had the spotting with the cycle you got pg?

Congrats Niniel!!

SKJ - Sounds like your reduction in nursing is going well.

My DS spent the night and his grandparents on Saturday so that helped me keep nursing to a minimum this weekend :)  He still isn't ready to completely drop either of his sessions but he is willing to dramatically reduce the amount of time he nurses.  Last night he unlatched when I got to 7 on one side!!  This morning I didn't put any restriction on time but I did kind of count in my head and it was only 1 minute, less than 2 per side.  So we are getting there.

I got this article in my inbox this morning and thought some here might be interested:  http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/09/18/oral-progesterone-and-progesterone-cream-complications.aspx?e_cid=20110918_SNL_Art_1

Congrats Niniel!

I think you can move me to 2WW

I think I ovulated on Saturday or Sunday and we DTD both days.  Sex drive was crazy both days, so I have a good feeling about this month.  Also, DD hasn't nursed in about a week, it is amazing that is can just happen without really working at it!  I won't test  until October 6 or so!

yes this is my first PP cycle and I had a lot of spotting

Thanks for the thoughts on nipples. I am also hoping it'll be easier next time if there's not a long gap. I know that there could be latch soreness, but I think I'll carry on using the nipple cream for my face and keep some lanolin just in case I need it. I have one side which is flat/inverted and it was very painful when I started off with Leo. I can't remember how long it lasted but I was in pain, proper pain. Grit your teeth type pain. It was winter too so if I got cold it hurt more. It will be strange to have to hold a newborn to the boob. Rather than have an exposed boob in the same room as a toddler and within 2 seconds he's found it and is latched! So often I'm sorting myself out to get comfy and he's already on.

I don't have much to add on the spotting. I have implantation bleeding (well I have done twice so I guess that's what I do), but never really spotting issues.

I also do not want to be pregnant in summer. I live in the south of spain and it is warm. Either being heavily pregnant, or having a nb and active toddler would not be fun in August.

Well I've had some ewcm (although saturday it looked more creamy than ew, no stretch) and this morning my temp was a touch lower than it hass been. So this could be drop before ovulation. I really really desperatly want a girl (especially having had a daughter for a short time already) so I don't think we'll bd tonight just in case this is o day. Maybe yesterdays boy swimmers will arrive too early leaving the slower girl swimmers to arrive on time. I've always said false hope is better than no hope. I've got to do what I can to hopefully get a girl. I am going to try to refuse to find out so that I am happy to be given a baby, and then be overwhelmed iwth that and not mind so much if it's a boy. Yes I know another boy would be great and him and Leo would be such good friends. But I will be sad if I don't get to have a daughter to share pregnancy and babies with, and also I've already had one so I'll feel like I'm being punished if I don't get one for keeps.

I don't even have any pee sticks. Maybe I should order some. Then I'll have the, how many to order dilema!

Congrats Niniel.

CD 20 for me and no sign of ovulation yet. This is the 2nd cycle after is m/c and I didn't take anything this time. A little frustrated. Anyone ever taken soy while BFing to get a "normal" timed ovulation. I would be thrilled with anything before CD 20! The last cycles it has been 22, 21, 30, 46. Ugh, not a good pattern.

Thanks for posting the article. What do you think about his recommendations as to where to apply the cream?

I usually apply it to hands, abdominals, and thighs on a rotating basis...

I read some of the comments and someone said it was not a good idea to put those creams there.  I don't know what to think.  I'm still hoping I get pregnant before I resort to NPC.

Please move me to waiting to know! I've had 2 high temps in a row, and am really hoping this cycle works out for us as DH will likely be out of town a lot next month.

Totally aside, I think DD is getting her top 2 year old molars and is waking up to nurse way, way too many times at night. I was hoping she'd start cutting down on her own, but I'm beginning to think night weaning is in our near future.

Hi all!

Wow, I went away for the weekend and now I am soooo behind!

Well, the plan for DH and I has changed AGAIN!  I was just offered a new job that is a fantastic opportunity for my family and have decided to accept.  Great benefits, no more crazy hours, every other friday off, etc.  So that means that I will be in the waiting to be ready category for another 6 months at least!   So even though I feel ready to TTC #2 I guess I will just have to wait knowing it is best for my family in the long run.

Good luck to all of you on your TTC journey and I really hope NOT to see any of you in it when I rejoin this group in the spring! goodvibes.gif

I've never heard of putting NPC on mucous membranes...that seems odd to me headscratch.gif I guess it makes sense but I don't think I'll try it. I tried it last cycle for the first time and I'll use it again after O this time. I also just rotate between stomach, arms, thighs, breasts.

Carlin: Fingers crossed for good timing for you! My DD just got her first 2 year old molar. It hasn't been too bad actually but she is actually drooling and gnawing on her fingers a lot again...takes me back to when she was about 5 months old when she was a drool monster :)

nstewart: Sounds like a great opportunity for you and your family. Good luck now and in the future smile.gif

Afm: CD12...high on the monitor AND lots of great ewcm! SO early for me so I'm not convinced but I'm also getting achy/crampy so maybe I'm going to O at a "normal" time this cycle! I'll start with opks tomorrow and see what happens!

Carlin have you read the Jay Gordon article on nw? I have been cutting out his first waking which appears to be around 5 (on the whole although sometimes I suspect he's waking at 2 or 3). I can generally avoid bf until 7 or so. I tried it before but it wasn't the right time and he was too upset. This time though he's really adjusted to the change quite well. YEs I do feed sometimes when he wakes up earlier, but on the whole I can get him tosleep again just being there and patting him. He's in his own cot which is next to ours like a co sleeper. I find it's least successful when he has migrated into the bed and is right next to me. He either finds boob, or won't sleep without boob, or is very upset if I try to get him back into his bed.

Well I thought I would O yesterday but didn't. I had in my head that EWCM would not last that long, that you only get 4 days or so (as if I should expect anything normal on a first cycle off bcp while bf). Well my temp dipped again yesterday. WTF. Fingers crossed the little dude goes to bed well tonight so we can bd again.

I am really bad at judging how open or closed my cervix is. Seriously it's all squidgy but it's hard to know what is open and what is closed one day to another.

Nikki good look with the change of jobs. Every other friday off sounds fantastic.

Hi everyone, I am on CD 15, so I think 1 or 2 DPO.  I went to acupuncture today and he feels really good about this month.  He said my pulse is great and actually told me to hold off on making another appointment and just call when I get a BFP.  Super excited right now, but it will probably make me crazy in another week or so!

Carmen, Fingers crossed for a nice early O for you!

Fazer, I have read it, and that's basically my plan, I just have to get up the nerve to do it! Knowing my DD, she's not going to be impressed so we'll be in for a few rough nights. DH recently started a new job, and has been working really hard getting our roof fixed, so I didn't want to mess with his sleep too much right now, however I'm starting to think it might be worth it.

Ava's Mama, what awesome news from your acupuncturist! I'd be so excited too!  It looks like we're pretty much cycle buddies this month, so hopefully we can keep each other sane!

AFM, Got my crosshairs today! I'm hopful, but trying not to get my hopes up too high, if you know what I mean!

Fertility vibes for everyone!

Hi again ladies-

I guess I was right about fertility signs returning.  Spotting started this morning, waiting to see if it will pick up.  Same thing happened with DD1, I think at about 13 months.  Spotting for a few days, 15 days later more spotting then about 30 days later my first real PPP and then ovulation, and then we got the 2nd PPegg.  We will see how it all unfolds.

So, DD1 weaned  almost a month ago.  i am guessing that is what kick started my cycle again.  Bittersweet.

yay to the O'ing ladies!

I'm with you guys too.  Just a few days behind.  I got a +OPK today.  I used an IC and then confirmed with a digi. Gotta love that smiley face.  My MIL is still here, so hoping I can seduce my DH despite that.

Fingers crossed for everyone!
