Thanks for the help ladies - I might try vaginal temping next cycle (I've got at least another 2 weeks, probably 3, to see if I can get better with my mornings). And ButterflyMama, thanks for your comments - I struggle with balance or juggling all the things on my plate, and then I look around at all the mamas I know and can't believe how they manage it. Of course, 5 years ago, I couldn't have lived the life I'm living now, so we grow into our situations if we want to make it work, i suppose.
JMJ I like your thoughts on the NFP - sounds like a good way to look at that week of abstaining and turn it into a positive marriage-strengthening thing. I am hoping after another cycle or two it will be more obvious when my fertile period is, though, because I've had two 40+ day cycles with creamy CF starting around CD10 and no ovulation until CD26. I've got to get more consistent with checking CF multiple times a day rather than just temping, too. And probably finally buy TCOYF and read it (wikis are helpful, but I need a better understanding I think if I'm going to use NFP as my only method of TTA).
CarsonBookworm - I'm new to charting, didn't know how DH would react. I was looking for support coming off of HBC, and framed it as - 'charting can be used to help women get pregnant by identifying fertile periods, so we can use it to avoid having sex during the fertile periods', I explained the science, and I also told him about this forum. I wasn't expecting much pushback, he's of the mindset "it's your body", but he's actually been supportive and wanted to be involved. He'll frequently ask about my chart and we'll chat about the science of it and stuff. We're into year three of our marriage that has been full of impasses that required lots of communication (much of which was shouting and unloving in the beginning, I'm sorry to say), but it sounds like you both have some fears about the other's choice of TTA that needs to be understood. Anyways, I just wanted to share my experience. Also, I've read some other threads in this forum about the pull-out method, some people have had success and some have not, it seems to vary greatly by couple, but if you look around you should see some threads about it.
Something that's been bugging me, and maybe it's not really a question for this thread - my periods have been short since I've stopped hormonal birth control (2 days and light first cycle, 3 days and light second cycle)... Does this seem like a problem? I see my doctor in November, so I can ask her then, but I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with light periods after stopping HBC.
