ideas for lunches and snack for school

nut free preferred so he doesn't have to think about where to sit.

for the snack--something that can be eaten quickly--he said a clementine took too long to peel, and thinks an apple would be too big and take too long,  to give an idea.  it also has to be packed separate from lunch, so something ok @ room temp for a couple hours.  and they eat in their room for the snack so nothing crumbly or drippy.  also not a cookie or 'junky' thing.  i prefer that snack crackers like cheezits be a rare treat.

so far we have come up with

frozen cheese--thaws by time to eat.  A string stick or cheddar as a half-sandwich or w/ crackers.

grapes

banana

cut fruit in a cup like melon

plum

sent dates today cause i need to go to the store.  was ok w/it but not a favorite.

maybe those things ARE enough variety with your occasional snack cracker or granola bar for simple fun.

i also try yo match w/breakfast like fruit after a high protein b'fast, protein snack w/carb or little b'fast

homemade mini muffins - you can make savory and throw cheese in or do sweet

prepeeled hard boiled eggs

apple slices-  soaked in water and lemon juice so they don't brown

cherry tomatoes - one bite and they're gone

veggie spears - carrots, cukes, whatever he eats

raisins

You could do a nut-free trail/snack mix that uses seeds instead (sunflower, pumpkin) with dried fruits and a few pretzel bits.
