Pins and needles here Jo & Plady. Thinking of you both.
There seems to be an ASL theme going on. DD is now picking it up very quickly with her friend to practice with during school and her tutor.
Today was the school meeting. They're taking data in the next week on reading + speech issues, putting a building sub into the room during math so that DS can work with his teacher to get him figured out on all aspects. While the classroom teacher SUCKS at parent communication, I must say she was really sharp in putting things together about what I was saying about speech and what she'd noticed on his reading. We've now performed all the speech/language tests on the poor kid that we can, so there are no more tests to give him. We summed that little bit of the meeting up, and the principal then interjected --- "now I want to talk about this math. He's going to need more." The teacher then said that there was no way she could teach a kid who was announcing that "if each kid had 5 monkeys then there were 100 monkeys in the room - but wait, Johnny's absent today, so there are only 95" at the same time that she was trying to work with the kids to count their 5 monkeys. He's getting put on a computer game math program for the next 4 months to take data on what he does and does not know to figure out which math class he should be in for the rest of kindergarten. I heard the principal at the other end of the table trying to figure out what time second and third grade math were scheduled.
I guess I'm getting better at these meetings. ;) So we've got a promise for data collection on the speech/language and what looks like a plan for radical acceleration in math. That's what I was asking for. So while I don't have many more answers on the speech, I do have people who seem to understand what I'm saying and they're not treating me as crazy. The kindergarten teacher now realizes she's seeing some of what we're seeing, even if it's not manifesting itself in the same way.
RR: My RP and I are recovering very slowly from our long runs. We're taking 2 days off before the next one, 13 miles Saturday as out last LONG one before the half, two weeks from Sunday.
