I 'm 30 and have a precious 3 y/o little girl and had some complications that happened after birth/over time pelvic things got worse, a prolapsed rectum and had to get 10 inches of my sigmoid colon removed. I got an infection and then started going septic, was rushed to the OR and woke up with an ileostomy. I was reconnected last march. However the surgeon had to let me'open wound ' heal, I had wound care for about three months and my muscle didn't heal very well in my abdomen. The surgeon did not fix the horrible scar tissue from my belly button down when he went in to reconnect me. So I have a hole in my abdominal wall where muscle should be, and the doc said I was at high risk for hernia/recurrent hernia by doing many different activities. So I went to a plastic surgeon to see if they could medically remove the scar tissue, which my obgyn told me would keep my belly from stretching for a baby, and not to get pregnant. The plastic surgeon said bc the scar tissue is affecting my period, and bladder, and my high risk for hernia that he couldn't help and that I needed a general surgeon. He talked about how they would use mesh in my abdominal area, and it freaks me out. I saw a video where stomach muscles were pulled togethr just by sewing a type of zig zag pattern, isnt the a way to fix and pull the muscles back together without the use of mesh. I also have a rectocele and a doctor told me they would need to put vaginal mesh in, no way, with the complications it can cause not limited to bad infection I decided not to get surgery on the rectocele and instead try kegel exercise instead. Does anyone have any wisdom or suggestions they could please share with me? Thanks so much!
