I'm having deep in my butt pain. I thought it was sciatica, but it's not radiating at all, just these really sharp pinches deep inside both cheeks. I"m also having weird pinchy things in my feet, usually on the sides, and usually when I bend over. The chiro helps keep both of those (and the heartburn!! hallelujah!!!) at bay, but if there's something I can do that will help too, I'm so open to it. It's just agonizing to stand and walk with that bum pain going on.

Sciatica? I'm going to research that. But the pain you're describing deep in your butt muscles is something I get while sleeping in the last few weeks of pregnancy. What the heck is it? Same sensation you describe too- pinching feeling. Most common if I'm not moving for awhile (sleeping). Really bizarre...

Do you think it might be plantar faciatiis?  I get it pretty bad during pregnancy and have found the best prevention is walking around barefoot so my feet must take a beating and the best intervention is rolling a frozen water bottle under the arch.

I actually got this book out from the library a few months ago and just got around to reading it because it's due soon and I've already renewed it too many times (DOH). I think it sounds good, but the first exercise she has you do is lying flat on your back (knees bent with feet flat on the floor, spread knees apart and put feet together), she says to do it for 20 minutes! That makes me nervous - is that really a good idea for this far along in pregnancy?! I want to try it, but it makes me nervous!

Celticqueen - the treatment you described from your chiropractor sounds a bit like this exercise (aside from the popping). Maybe I'll ask my chiro about this.

I definitely want to tell my chiro what the book said about PSD (that it is caused by a sacro-iliac - lower back - imbalance and often doesn't need to be treated directly). There was one time I went to see her and she used a LOT of pressure on my lower back for a while and it HURT but I felt a lot better afterwards.

Thanks for the info! The description doesn't sound like what I experience - the pain is usually on the side of my heel (almost at the point where the side bends over to be the bottom of my foot, if that makes sense), I've never felt it on the bottom of my foot.

Oh man, getting it while sleeping sounds awful! So far, when my body is just exhausted, I can snuggle into my pile of pillows and count on some relief from aches and pains. I hope that continues to be true! Did anything provide relief from that pain for you?

Nope :( Hoping I can research what can relieve it. Switching positions would help for an hour, then I'd have to switch again. So much for resting up before baby comes, eh? Ugh!

The pillow thing you mentioned though...I wonder if I need more pillows? I actually haven't tried that

I finally slept in the recliner... and in the morning my hips/pelvis felt so good! Something else happened that I remember from last time - it felt like the baby was higher up in my uterus in the morning and I didn't have to get up so many times to pee! On the other hand, my upper back hurt a little from being more upright than usual, and I need to find our head support pillow, since my neck kept going to one side or the other.

Anyways, this could potentially help someone if you have a recliner and are interested in trying! I don't think I want to so it all of the time until I have to, but it did give me some relief after a weekend away from home and being unable to find a comfortable position after being in bed for about 5 hours (even with all kinds of body pillows).

Good to know. I have a recliner, but rarely use it...I'll probably give it a go if it takes me a long time to get to sleep again. I sleep with lots of pillows too (just started a few nights ago) and so far it isn't helping much. Time for another chiro adjustment probably. Although I think I'm becoming addicted lol.gif

Oh woe is me and my hips and pelvis. It like they knew my third trimester has started, to which they said, you shall now hurt. I keep waking up with an intense cramp in whichever side is up when I am sleeping. I'm dreaming of sleeping in recliners. Fortunately I don't have one lest I end up with a posterior babe. Oh woe is me. redface.gif

Ok, maybe I am being a little dramatic.

I was given (as requested) a recliner as a "push present" following my son's birth.  Best. Gift. Ever. !!  I don't lean back now as I have no desire for a posterior babe, but they are awesome in those first months when you literally just sit and nurse all live long day.

That's why I bought mine. They are so comfortable for nursing!

I feel a lot of large body parts in the front of my belly, so I think that's a good thing as far as the baby's position. During the day I often sit upright rather than reclined, but I know I'm at risk since I have an anterior placenta. I hear you, though, regarding positioning and reclining. It is definitely a good idea to do some optimal positioning exercises, though, either way, since it is so easy for the baby to move from anterior to posterior or vice versa. For now, I'm going to sleep in the recliner at least some of the time, since it is important to get good rest!

I noticed lately that you can get a "zero gravity" chair for about $60, if you're not buying a recliner because of cost. They're basically like a chez lounge (did I spell that right?). My acupuncturist uses them in her office and it seemed pretty comfortable.

Just thought I'd bump this thread to point out that lecithin from eggs seems to help a lot with SPD. You can either buy it as a supplement or just try to get more eggs in your diet.

Good to know, Devaskyla!! I am in miserable f'ing pain lately. To the point of crying at night from switching positions. I'm even cursing as I get out of bed as of late. The pubic pain is unbarable. If this baby goes over 40 weeks, I'll insist on my water being broken. Not sure how much more of this I can handle without going on bedrest

I found that my pelvic pain showed up earlier with each subsequent pregnancy. My youngest is 4 and I want another one, but have really been hesitant because the pain is so bad!!

I'm so sorry. I hope you can make it through without too much pain.
