Transitioning from bassinet to bed or crib.

DD is 4 months old and has mostly slept in the bassinet. A couple of times she's fallen asleep in the bed with me after nursing, but it's rare. It's pretty much just the bassinet or on Daddy. She will NOT sleep near me, either next to me or on my chest. She has to be latched on to even tolerate it. I've spent entire nights dozing with her latched on because I was too exhausted to get up and put her back in the bassinet and get her back to sleep. It's really complicated to get her to sleep. Sometimes she needs the vibration on the bassinet, someone patting her back and shushing, AND ocean noises to conk out. Other times she won't sleep anywhere but on her daddy.

She's about to outgrow the bassinet and I don't know what we're going to do after that. We didn't bother getting a crib because we assumed we'd be cosleeping. I don't know how to get her used to being in the bed (sleeping and NOT attached to me) or being in a crib with no vibration and walls far away from her. We were thinking of getting a mini-crib and side-carring it, but I don't even know if that would work since there are no more drop-sided cribs, so all sides may be needed to hold the thing up.

Any ideas would be much appreciated!

Perhaps an Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper would work.

Just when you get used to a baby doing one thing they start doing something else. It is so unusual for a baby not to sleep next to mom that you can expect that it will change. What a wonderful guy you have to let baby sleep on him!

They still sell cribs that can have one side removed, to turn it into a toddler bed. Like most of the IKEA cribs for example. Maybe you could get one like that so it could be sidecarred?
