Can BF hormones cause migraines?

Thread Starter

I am EBF my almost 7 month old. Migraines run in my family (mom and sister) but I've never had one until the last 4 months, and I've had 4 horrible migraines, about once a month (the kind that make you nauseous and are always right behind an eyeball). I never take anything since I am BF, they usually happen at night and I just sleep it off. Anyone else had this?

Women that have migraines before they get pregnant may experience no migraines while breastfeeding. It is one of the advantages of breastfeeding. I started getting disabling migraines when my youngest was 2.5 years and breastfeeding. I had vomiting along with the headache and other symptoms and we thought I was getting the flu over and over or something. By the time we figured out it was migraines my son had weaned. He weaned the earliest of any of my children and I think it was because I was so sick so often.
