Being away overnight from your bedsharing, breastfeeding toddler...

I have an almost 17 month old DS. We bedshare, and he still nurses at night, probably 2 or 3 times and as soon as he wakes up. He also nurses to sleep for naps and bedtime.

I have the opportunity to go away overnight with my DH, and it's about 2 hours away from home. I don't have to go, it's for a combination bachelor/bachelorette party for some friends of ours. The room would be paid for, and honestly, I would love to go. If I did, DS would stay with my MIL, who he adores and knows extremely well. She has been his only babysitter, and she has gotten him to go to sleep without me in the past. I have never been away overnight, and I know DS doesn't really NEED the boob anymore in terms of nutrition or anything like that. I just don't know how it would work with him being so used to rolling over and nursing whenever he wants AND bedsharing with me and DH, and not having either of those things. Have any of you ever left your DC overnight while they were still nursing?

This decision is really tough for me! I don't want DS to be unhappy but I really could use the break and the adult time with DH.

I left my kids with DH at that age (overnight) and it was tough the first night but then easy the second night.

I would go and have a great time!
