How much vitamin D3 is safe to take while nursing my 1 year old?

I've been nursing my son for a year now, he gets solids 3 times a day BLW style and just breastmilk, no formula. I just found out I am deficient in vitamin d, my levels are at 22. The doc told me to take 5000 i.u's a day but from what I'm reading that might not be enough to get my levels up. I worry about my son getting too much if I take 10,000 but I also read I should have been supplementing him but that is news to me : /.Does anyone have experience with taking D3 while nursing or having a deficiency while nursing?

My levels were low too. I have been taking 7000 IU/day. I felt comfortable with that amount and so did my doctor. Baby gets 800 IU/day (D-Drops) and lots of milk from me.
