Ok so im new to this so bare with me :)

about 5 DPO i had cramps like, the worst i have ever had, figured it was inplation :) well hoping it was

So anyways... I was 1 day late so i took a test & got a faint line after a min.

Then i got my period the next day so i figured it was a chimical pregnancy. Just to make sure i took another test after my period was over ( which was my normal 5 days, same flow & everything) still a faint line after a min or 2. Today i took a test and a draker line came up and it was within secs but still faint compared to a normal dark postive line :/

IDK what to think, Where TTC, plzzzz help me :)

Going to the clinic monday just to make sure but that seems like forever away....

Hmmm have you been pregnant before? using the same cup to test perhaps? I did that once.. ugh! It didn't matter I had washed it. Once I got a new cup from the store it went negative :(   Are the tests old? Are they ovulation tests? Hmm.. very suspiscious. I'd be going crazy!

Go get a digital test!!!  There are a little pricey, but definitely worth it if you're this confused and unsure about what's going on.  Were the second lines on your tests pink or gray?  If they're gray, then they would be evaporation lines.  I would guess that you're not pregnant and just had faulty tests or you saw evaporation lines.  I guess it also could be possible that if you had an early miscarriage, maybe the pregnancy hormone was still in your system after the bleeding had stopped when you took a test this last time.

When you find out what's going on, please let us know!

Hi Lauren, welcome to MDC!!  wave.gif

There are a couple of possibilities.  One, you saw evap lines... if the line is not colored or too faint to tell then consider it a negative.  Two, you were pregnant, miscarried and still have enough lingering hCG in your system to test positive.  This is not terribly likely as your levels would probably not be so high by the time of your period that they would take a while to drop.  Three, you are pregnant and experienced bleeding with pregnancy around the time of your expected AF.  Spotting or light bleeding is not uncommon around this time and is caused by hormonal fluctuations (not implantation).  Some women that experience bleeding will go on to miscarry and others will go on to have perfectly healthy pregnancies.  Four, you are pregnant and something else is causing the bleeding like a cyst.

Implantation spotting and cramping is really not that common.  And implantation occurs between 6 and 12 DPO, 84% of the time between 8 and 10 DPO.  So 5 DPO is really too early to be experiencing pregnancy symptoms.  How did you confirm ovulation?  Do you chart your basal body temp and cervical fluid?  Or were you taking OPK's?  If the latter, remember that you are likely to ovulate 24-36 hours AFTER a positive OPK and that is only if they are working for you (and they do not work for a lot of women).

I agree with Traci, go out and get a digi, but be sure to get one that only requires an hCG level of 25.  This will eliminate the possibility of seeing evaps.  Is the clinic open on Monday since it's Labor Day?  You might end up waiting until Tuesday to get blood work.  Keep us posted!!

If the tests are getting darker, that is a good thing! It's possible you had an endangered pregnancy, got your period, then the pregnancy revived for some reason and is now moving along again. I have heard of women being told they were miscarrying, only to have the embryo bounce back.

It's also possible that you miscarried and the hormones have not left your system yet.

And it is possible that you got pregnant again, soon after a miscarriage.

All you can do is wait and hope. I know that's not the definitive answer you were looking for...

While there is a lot of anecdotal evidence that the line will get darker on an HPT when your hCG levels rise, the test manufacturers are very clear that you cannot use the darkness of the line to determine viability.  Plus different tests will react differently.  The only way to confirm viability is to get your beta hCG levels done and see your levels doubling nicely over a 24-72 hour period.  But like I said, anecdotal evidence does suggest that a darkening line means rising hCG.

I'm not sure how this would work... if she just finished bleeding from a m/c she could not have become pregnant again until she ovulated again several weeks later.  But this idea did remind me of another possibility... vanishing twin.  If twins run in your family or you were using reproductive technology to get pregnant, your chances of twins are higher and it is possible that you m/c'd one twin and are still pregnant with the other.

Jaimee...   During my second pregnancy/miscarriage my HPTs were continually faint, they were always squinters. The blood tests confirmed that the pregnancy was not viable. I have also been on these TTC forums for a long time and everytime I've seen faint BFPs that did not progressively darken, they were followed by miscarriages. So, anecdotal or not, I believe the darkness of the tests does have some bearing.

As for the pregnant again comment, it would be unlikely, I agree, but our bodies are unpredictable and can ovulate at odd times, so I tossed it out there (besides, we don't know exactly when she tested the last time). Oh, and yeah, I had forgotten about the twin possibility.

Stevi- Oh, I tend to agree that a darkening line is a good sign- especially on the same brand of test.  But I just wanted the OP to be sure to know that it should not be relied upon as a sign of viability or vice versa.  I'm sorry for your loss, too.  I've also had losses with squinters, but they were both very early losses.

Sorry its taken me so to reply everyone. The last test i took was yesterday ive been off my period for 3days now. The line was pink not gray. I thought i was crazy so i had my husband & mother look at they all saw pink. Twins do run in my family, so that could be what happened. I completly forgot monday was labor day so i have an extra day of not knowing. I want to test more but im going crazy with the test & need to stop for awhile. Ive took 4 all together.

1st- faint pink

2nd- very faint pink

3rd- very very faint kinda pink

4th- darker than all of them, but still kinda faint def. pink

so idk what to think

I forgot to mention that twins need to run on your side of the family as only your parents would affect your genetics and only your genetics would increase the chances of twins.

Maybe buy yourself a digi for tomorrow's first of the morning urine?   I probably would, but I also understand waiting a few days to get more conclusive results.  Good luck!!

I don't know about the darkening lines, but I know about bleeding! With my second, I hadn't yet had a PP period, so when I started bleeding I figured that's what it was. Until I kept bleeding heavily past day 4, when I tend to start drying up. I had a bunch of ICs and took a test just to see if anything was going on -- negative. Tested again every day for the next week and a half, all the while bleeding fairly heavily, to finally get a positive after two full weeks of significant bleeding (didn't have time to see the doctor...). The baby was fine, but I wonder whether there was a twin in there originally, as the bleeding was so much more than implantation bleeding. At least, so much more than the implantation bleeding I'd had with #1 or heard described -- it was like two full weeks of heavy period bleeding.

Twins do run in my family, though there are none so far in my generation between my four pregnancies and my sisters' four between them.
