Not a safety issue, but am desperate. Left car windows down during thunderstorm!!!

duh.gif I was exhausted last night and I left my car sitting in the driveway.......with the windows down....

There was a huge thunderstorm last night and my car's cloth seats and floor got soaked.......

What natural solutions can I use to make sure mold doesn't grow and my car dries out? I have left the windows down, but it is not a sunny day so far....

Everything I read online says to use Febreeze and replace the seats. NOT an option for me.

Woulf baking soda help? Vinegar?

Thanks for any advice!

To prevent mold and smells, I think the most important thing is to get the car to dry as fast as you can. Take out anything easily removable, like mats or headrests. Sop up as much as you can with towels. Can you park close to an outdoor outlet or use an extension cord to get some fans blowing through the car? Park in the sun if you can. The faster you can get it dry, the less likely you'll have problems with mold or smells.

Can you rent a shop vac?  And like the pp said, set up some fans and remove anything from the car you can

That's a good idea. Hardware store? I'll check into it...The problem is there aren't really PUDDLES....Just the front seats are soggy all the way through...I will try the fan idea.....

You could try using a hair dryer too maybe???

I've thought about that too, but the prospect of sitting in my wet car and hairdrying my seats for hours makes me very sad...

I'm currently running my heat full blast with AC on.....Kitty litter has been sprinkled......lol...we'll see.

Our basement is attached to our garage, so if that happened, after sopping up as much as possible, I would probably open all the doors to the car, and plug the dehumidifier in as close to it as I can, then run it full blast, emptying the bucket every time it filled for a couple of days.  Not sure if that is an option for you, but I do find our dehumidifer does a really good job of drying things out.

Well, apparently, running the heat full blast with the AC on gets the job done QUICK. My car is as dry as the desert!!!!! energy.gif

I think it's the same concept as a dehumidifier.

I've never used it and have no idea what's in it, but it absorbs moisture in the air.
