Labour was five and a half hours long Wednesday. I *thought* I was in labour and called the midwife, She asked me to come in for a check. I did and when she checked me I was already 6-7 cm with a bulging sack of water hanging out!! She got in a bit of a rush to get the room set up (birthing suite at the midwives offices). I spent some time helping get the room set up, then walked around until it got more intense, then relaxed in the tob (big corner jacuzzi). When I felt like pushing was getting close the 2nd midwife was called. I decided to go to the bathroom and clear out a little before pushing, and conveniently broke my water in a HUGE gush in the toilet!!
So I got back in the tub, and literally ten pushing contractions later he was out. It was peaceful and I sang like an opera singer with each contraction (not really but that's how it felt for me). It was making me laugh the noises coming out of me. About fifteen times he tried to push his way out and did a little jig. My perineum was bulging up and down and I couldn't help but laugh. My whole belly moved up and down with his efforts. I had two level one tears where I tore last time but am very comfortable.
He crowned and slid out at the same time!
Weight 9 lbs 12 ounces (my daughter was 9 lbs 3 ounces)
Height 54 cm I think... But am not sure
I could have done without the tears.. But other than that out was my dream birth. I am just thrilled. We stayed three hours then left the midwives offices for the hotel we had reserved. Big sister now 20 months old had already visited and given him lots of kisses and helped change his diaper exclaiming BIG POO! So funny.
Yahhhhh!
