Should I be concerned?

Thread Starter

So very early on with this pregnancy (it is my first...) I felt like this baby was abnormally strong. By the time I was 19 weeks I could feel him kicking me regularly. By 24 / 25 weeks, I was calling him a monster because his kicks were painful to me. And now at 31 1/2 weeks, I feel like my organs are bruised on the inside. When I touch my stomach or push on it with any sort of pressure it feels how it does when you push on a bruise. When he moves it feels like that as well, and for the past two days, he HASN'T STOPPED MOVING. The baby frequently feels like he is shoving off the back of my uterus and just pushing out as hard as he can, and in turn, my stomach is frequently rock hard where ever he is. I am genuinely in pain because of this... I don't want to be a cry baby and call my mw about it, but I've never heard anyone talk about having these pains... I know he's just getting bigger, but 8(+) more weeks of this!?!?

there's lots of women who complain about this and they just have strong babies. Do you think he just might be big?

I feel the same way.  I'm petite and slender so I stretch out tightly when pregnant and the baby wedges itself deeply into my pelvis and up under my ribs.  I have always found the kicks of the third trimester to be painful.  Both my previous babies have dislocated two of my ribs on my right side and I think this baby is starting to do the same now.  My first baby also dislocated my tailbone.  My first was 7lbs1oz and my second was 8lbs2oz.  I'm 5'4" and 100 pounds pre-pregnancy.

I would imagine it is not a matter of your baby being particularly strong or large, but merely a function of how he is positioned in your body and where he can fit.  I know how frustrating it can be to hear other women (and especially relatives!) keep commenting on how much they loved being pregnant and loved feeling baby move when you're sitting there thinking you are growing a vampire baby that is damaging your insides and going to burst out of your stomach at any moment.  Hang in there mama!  You'll find you can handle it just as you'll handle the sleepless nights and sore nipples.  Mothers are super heroes and this is just the beginning!    superhero.gif

The WONDERS of motherhood no one bothers to discuss with a first time mom. lol When I was pregnant with my first, it wasn't until I was 30 weeks that I found out I'd bleed for 6 weeks.

I agree with Jaimee. It's mostly about position. This baby moves most of the time and sometimes it's rather painful. I still love feeling the movement but I regularly put my palm on the offending spot and rub in circles until the baby gets annoyed and rolls over. The rolling over process isn't especially comparable by this size, either.

Not that this is a laughing matter at all, I just had to say the image I got from the OP is of Bella being pregnant in the third Twilight book.  Ouch.

To the OP, I do hope you feel better soon!  I've never had anything beyond the under the ribs discomfort with any of my pregnancies, so I can't imagine actually feeling bruised.  (((HUGS)))
