Has anyone used the Ergo with the infant insert?  I tried it out a week ago and baby didnt seem thrilled - have you tried it without the insert with newborns? It got REALLY hot here the past few days so i havent used again- but hoping to when fall returns :)  The moby still overwhelms me and i hope to figure it out soon...

I do not have the insert, I just use a thin blanket to swaddle her loosely before I put her in.

yeahthat.gif  River's over 11lbs now, and I still can't figure out how to use the Ergo with him, and that infant insert seems like a  little oven to me.

Sarah, do you do anything else besides swaddle? I've heard people sat to stuff a receiving blanket inside, but I can't figure out how...

I fold up a receiving blanket into a square and position it just under Ro's butt so he can remain frog-legged without much trouble. It's worked really well so far!

OK, so I just got back from a walk around the block with River in the Ergo with a receiving blanket in the bottom. I think it worked pretty well, thanks for the tip!

He loves to sleep while being carried.  Now, to get him to like the carriers when he's awake....

DS is only 7 lbs so the insert may be the way to go for me....

I've used the insert, but can't figure out how to keep her chin off her chest so her breathing isn't affected. Is this an issue for anyone else?

I always turn my babies heads to the side when they are in a carrier, so their chin is not to their chest and their ear is on my chest hearing my heartbeat

I don't have the insert so I've just been using a folded blanket under him like others have mentioned.  Anton seems to love it!

The problem is that she gets positioned in there and her head is away from my body, so that the only way to go and be resting on me is forward. I think I figured it out though: I think she was getting curled up away from my belly because the shoulder straps were too loose. Today I first put her in the insert and pulled her body flat against mine, then I pulled on the shoulder straps and tightened them so her body stayed flat against mine and her head was pulled up close to my chest. She's been in here for two hours now, and it's been pretty good. A couple times I got that wheezing sigh, and I noticed that she has sunk down and curled slightly, so I reached from the sides, grabbed under her armpits, and pulled her back up high so her head is on top of my breasts and against my chest. I think she's still a little small to stay completely snug.

I just foggy her legs in the swaddle and she stays that way, she is pretty long so her head is still pretty high, just barely low enough to be supported by the back of the carrier.

I was never a fan of the infant insert.  I tried using it with my son.  This time I'm skipping it altogether (too bulky, awkward, and hot!).  I use other carriers (slings, wraps, etc) for the most part, but when I want to use the Ergo, I "froggy" her legs and have her in there tummy to tummy with me.  Same with the mei tai.
