Moon Cup...hurts to take it out

I've read all kinds of Moon Cup threads, but no one seems to have my issue: it hurts like crazy to take the thing out! Am I doing something wrong??? I love the idea of it. Trimmed the stem so it's comfy. Never have a leak. But After one or two times taking it out, I'm done for that AF and go back to the sea sponges (which I love, but...the cup seems so cool, I want to use it, too!).

So. Any ideas? I break the seal with my finger, collapse the rim down into my pinched fingers and try to make a fast exit. I might as well be giving birth again! (ok, not really!!) Does it hurt others but everyone else is better at sucking it up than I am?

Thanks for whatever words you have for me. AF starts in 1.5 weeks....I WILL try it again!

subbing b/c I have similar issues. I'm getting pretty beaten up down there! (And I do collapse it before removing, but there's just that moment or two on exiting that it just seems like it's still too big. Meanwhile, I'm wondering how people with nice long fingernails do this, b/c it seems like part of the problem is I feel like I'm clawing myself to shreds trying to maneuver it to get it out.)

Just had a thought... Maybe a softer cup would be the answer?

it hurts a bit when i take mine out. it hurt a lot at the beginning and i'm not sure if i'm better with my technique now or if the skin stretched a bit or what, but it's getting better. i actually don't collapse mine anymore. the least painful way for me is to squeeze it so it's a long oval (front to back) shape and then get one edge of the rim out and then the other...i get the bottom edge out first (pulling the lip down and out towards the back of the toilet while angling the stem towards the front of the toilet is the best i can explain) and then the top is easy. still occasional pain with the bottom edge when i'm in a hurry, but way better than when i was first using it.

It hurt me a lot to take it out in the beginning. I think over time I just figured out the best angle to put it in and take it out, and it stopped hurting.

Just a follow up...it's true what the last posters said. I tried it again, and...voila!  No fuss no muss (mess...yes, muss, no :))  I guess it just takes doing it a few times. And now...I love it, just as I was supposed to!
